Hey,

I enjoy my miata turbo for a year now, after taking care of more impotent things I can now take care of the small things.

Well, I get a loud rattle sound from the turbo (I'm almost sure) when in over run (0% tps when rpm going down) from 4k rpm to 3k rpm.

It sounds like a washer "dancing" on a screw freely.

It comes on only when the car is warm.

I took out the heat shiled and the air filter with its pipes to see maybe the noise coming from them, but no.

Any idea ?

Are you sure the BOV is open?

 

yes, I'm @ as low as 12kpa MAP

 

Is the wastegate arm tight?

 

yes...

 

Sounds like it could be pinging. Any chance you can get an audio clip depending on how audible it is?

 

The TDo4 on the smurf i built had a rattle. Same thing.

Tightened the arm up and



The wastegate is bad internally. Well that's what we've come up with. Gotta rig up a new wastegate and we'll know for sure.

 

have you taken the intake off and checked for shaft play? I had a very similar noise when my car was warm coming from the turbo and my turbo was shot shaft play up the wazoo, any oil being burnt on overrun?

 

It was the EGR tube !

 

help gays, my cars rattles in overrun in the sweet spot of resonance rpm.

 

Hard to knock when there's no fuel being injected and at very low load.

 

Not any more and I'm so gay about it
