That map is so conservative, it should nto be detonating, and it clearly is based on that dyno graph.

What plugs are you running?
What octane are you running?

Also, there is no way to adjust the timing on a 99, so I have no idea how the base timing could be off.

 

i'm running the stock plugs (new but stock)
I'm running 93 pump gas

Also where do you hook up the + for the timing light? Battery is kinda far...

 

you still have to set it.. on MS there is an offset angle that you add or subtract until it matched up to 10* (or whatever you set the static timing as)... then you switch back to normal non static timing map. pretty sure when you read about the 99 timing they mean theres no way to alter timing thru hardware on stock ecu.

Isn't there a blue plug you can use? Or is my car the only one with that. Also, stock plugs are 5 heat range. I would go to atleast a 6. I roll the 7's.

 

BKRE7 best bang for the buck. Please don't use 5 heat range and try to boost. Use the 7s as a simple starting place... anyone that says otherwise I'll slap with my giant ****. If you like that... I'll use an aluminum bat instead... same size... less intimate.

I bet the plugs are the cause of this, because nothing about the tune or anything else looks like it should be causing detonation like that.

Replace the plugs and see if it suddenly gets faster.

 

Is there a reason why he tuned your fuel in ms instead of VE? I thought VE was supposed to be better.

Did he tune anything else like your cranking? Can you zip your map so I can take a look at it in Wari?

 

No i do not have a reason why its in ms vs Ve, Is there a way to directly convert it if its better? He started in Ve but converted it to MS. No i do not know the reason why.

yes that does not make any sense to me either. For example why is it that i'm running more fuel on some lower cells than i'm running on the higher cells?

 

Idk with mild cams I usually see pretty linear fuels. The only time Ive seen big ramp ups is people running more agressive NA cams with their turbo setups.

Uhm, that map is the strangest thing I have seen... I dunno how it's running good at all; but heey.... who knows, right?

So there is a sorta well known 4K RPM issue with our knock sensors picking up the "noise" of the engine. Did you compensate for this in your knock settings?

Since I'm running something close... give this map a shot.... it needs a little love to make it perfect; but it will get you a whole f'load closer.

no i do not know what Travis did as that goes. He did say he felt the ping though not just what the sensor told him.

I pick up a TON of fake knock around 4800 rpm.
Had to adjust my knock table to almost 120 in that region.

I thought it was weird that it was so linear and thought mine was messed. Glad to see yours is almost identical to my curve ^
