..but to caveat akaryerye, didn't he blow it up @ 17 psi?

not to knock bubba, but @ 12 posts it's likely he doesn't realise how much boost a Miata engine can take with stock internals. Hell, I've had people ask me if I was going to get my engine "sleeved" before turning up the wick :gay:

it only blew up (bad rings) when he went to megasquirt and starting running more boost. he ran it in that configuration for a few years with various track days.

Wow, more boost than 15psi on that turbo?! That seems a bit crazy.

Yup, can handled 15psi for a little over a year including a few pretty strenuous track days.

Engine gave up the ghost at 18psi. I was NOT trying to run the engine at 18psi, but my crappy Autometer boost gauge was reading 10-12 psi so didn't realize I was at 18psi until after the damage was pretty much done.

That sucks. Did you rebuild and get it back up and running or just go to a new engine?

Curious - what A/F ratio you seeing at peak power in that graph ? Better yet what target did you tune for ?

Pretty much dead flat between 12-12.5 AFR which is right where I was aiming. I think there might be a pic in one of the old threads. It's the beauty of olderguy's autotune.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I used a big FMIC b/c my AC is removed. It's the one one ebay with 2/5" in/outs and IIRC the core dimensions are 12"x9"3". It's a little on the big side IMHO, but it was cheap.
