yea I push 2.5 hose on a 2.7XX OD Skunk2 TB without too much difficulty. I like the tight fit and without boost it won't need hose clamps at all.

I dont know about the no clamps though. Vibration will get it off imo.

I sent this helmholtz resonated crossover and the new airfilter setup out to the PNW to get dyno tested.

The helmholtz chamber showed a conclusive improvement in the targeted RPM range. There is quite a bit of per run variation in the dyno results. If you take the two closest a/b runs its about a 5 wtq difference- the two farthest and its a 10 wtq improvement. I'm going to call the result "between 5 and 10 wtq."

A chart- Two with the chamber, two without:

I'm going to make production versions with a male mold I can lay up twice, and bond the halves together. Since its a male tool, the flanges can be kept on the carbon part without altering the internal shape.

Surprisingly the silicone reducer/bellmouth/larger filter part didn't show conclusive improvements. If you sort the results of all 12 dyno runs, there is a trend of the new filter results being at the top, but there is no definitive conclusion from comparing any two runs. I would guess the part is providing minimal (1whp) benefit, which is less than the per run variation, but is responsible for that sorting trend. I might try and force a large bell mouth radius on the side where I have room and see if that helps.

I will have a supply helmholtz crossovers pretty soon. I don't have to do any significant work to get the molds going and I can have my brother in law churn them out while I am busy with my day job. The intake ducts require a lot more cad work, followed by machining, then making bladders... So they are going a lot slower.

How is the fitment behind the radiator? Have you considered selling them via some of the vendors like FM and 949racing?

The helmholtz chambers require a coolant reroute to fit. I'm not sure how well it would fit with something like the massive TSE radiator. Maybe Nial can measure clearance on either side + the thickness of his RAD to give an idea.

I don't have one installed on my car since I don't have my new engine with coolant reroute in yet.

Also,
Do people want a helmholtz effect at another RPM? I want to make a few more test parts just to see what happens when you size a Helmholtz for 5k or 7k. I'm also wondering what happens when you put multiple resonators in line. I assume you get some kind of negative wave interactions.

LOL no ten dollars for those shitty graphs. Seriously what is up with that? After my car is warmed up I can lay a bunch of lines right on top of each other.

Sure, I can try to measure this evening. There wasn't a ton of room with the 37mm Koyo Hypercore. May be problematic with 55's and larger.

asmasm, please don't make me buy a K&N for my VVT swap! I'm in for a copy of your latest intake design if you're up for it.

It was mentioned a couple pages back...since ABS was not offered in 1990, the theory about the ABS washer bottle makes sense. My 11,xxx VIN `90 doesn't have the hole either. Passenger side hole appears to be access to A/C receiver/drier sight glass.
