Your biggest problem is carbon buildup under the rings. But you cannot get there unless you pull the pistons. I threw my pistons in an ultrasonic cleaner and they came out shiny. Someone told me they might crack now... The ultrasonic cleaner can distroy materials.

I put a portion of a can of combustion cleaner in each cylinder bore to remove carbon buildup on the rings and underneat.
