I remember when I went from a stock BP05 Intake manifold to a BEGI unit and did dyno testing that I actually lost power with the BEGI unit. So just because something looks like itll gain power doesnt necessarily mean its going to. Now, having said that the Skunk manifold looks a lot better designed than the BEGI manifold was. I remember when I bought the BEGI manifold stuff didnt fit right, and the runners were also really short. I dont think they did any sort of testing with it and just shipped me something that was totally unfinished. If the Skunk manifold makes power over a stock VICS Im going to buy one, the design on the inside looks pretty nice for each runner.

youre the only person I've read of to lose power with the begi. I've seen 3 personally at dynos, who gained a ton.

Some of the issue was at that point in time I was running the stock ecu a couldnt really control fuel. For some reason the BEGI manifold caused my car to run more rich and I lost a little power from that. I remember I made 294whp @ 16psi on a GT3271 on the stock BP05 manifold and then made 280 something on the BEGI. If I had been running a standalone I probably could have picked up some power. Either way I'm eagerly awaiting the results from the Skunk2 mani .

You made 294whp on a stock ECU? What injectors [cause your saying it was “rich”]?

I could post engine bay shots and dyno plots to prove you wrong but like I said you can believe whatever you want to.

Some 370cc injectors with a lot of fuel pressure to do it. Not really the correct way but it worked for me. I ran it that way for over 5 years and I wasnt nice to the car. I think the injectors started failing in the long run due to the extreme pressures they were subjected to, they would just go wide open at higher RPM.

Sounds really dumb. Let's get back to the topic at hand instead of some ghetto rigged begi failaids contraption

failaides:

AIDS and FAIL.

Combine the two and you get a creamy delicious filling of slow and painful death by ones own incompetence and/or stupidity.

Little Susy please use in a sentence.

Susy: " I sure hope this Skunk2 manifold isn't a giant case of failaids else I'll have to go back to fellating my begi setup."

"Failaides"

I have been lurking for quite a while and have never made a post. But here is my first.

I ordered this and it should be here this coming week. Currently My 99 has a full RB exhaust, Header to muffler. 6-speed with 4.3 rear, Flat top IM, Skunk2 throttle body,1000 cc injectors and an Hydra EMS. I run a consistent 0-60 from 7.6-7.9 sec. The car has been street tuned. I never have dynoed it. I will see how close the Skunk2 im is to the flat top. It will take a few weeks to tune it once it is on.

Still in for a Dyno comparison with the Squaretop. It's shown gains on the dyno over a stock VTCS manifold, but that was expected.

IGNORE THE AREA UNDER 3500RPM, we clarified and the owner said "ya that spike at 3100ish is where the throttle was stabbed on that run. We had tried opening it up at different rpms and that was the best run of the night."

"Got retuned tonight with the skunk2 manifold and throttle body

graph has my run with the stock manifold (dotted line)

Stock turbo, Adaptronic, ID1000, Begi throttle inlet & downpipe, Enthuza midpipe and exhaust, ebay intercooler, AEM intake. 12psi tapering down to 10"

Torque numbers on left, Horsepower on right, they do vary and make this chart look weird, but the numbers seem legit, and the gains are clear

that's pretty cool. gains above 6k are given, but looks like he picked up power in many more places

Yea looks much smoother and theres only one spot around 4600 where the power dips below its old. I'm just holding out for that square top comparison, I have one that I would need to port to match the Skunk 2 TB anyway so if the Skunk mani is going to be significantly better, I won't bother molesting my square top and just sell it. I'm definitely rooting for this thing to do better

I could deal with a 1tq dip to gain all that area below 4300rpm above 4750.

I question the power gains under 4500rpm strongly. It looks like the stock-turbo chart goes to WOT much later. Starts at 50wtq, clearly not at WOT, then a quick ramp up to WOT and 125wtq at 3100rpm, and then takes more time to build up to full boost. The Skunk2 run was clearly started much earlier and built boost earlier as a result.

valid point. but even when it does come on, it seems to be at least slightly lower.
