No, I don't mean cardboard. They are made of cellulose and synthetic glass fiber. Dozens of guys racing in spec Miata use them. Take the time to actually learn about filtration instead of spouting Internet tribal knowledge and stop drinking the WIX koolaid. Honda, Subaru, Nissan, Bentley and AC Delco all use this technology. It works and works very well.

Dude, he (You?) showed us cardboard end caps in the video. You can use whatever fancy name you want, but a "engineered fiber end cap" is still a cardboard end cap.
This ought to get good. A guy employed by Fram that does their training/advertisement videos coming on to advocate their product line?

He might be. The location of the guy in the video and he match, as well as their first names. Did I mention that he has exactly two posts, both of which are in this thread advocating Fram?

Maybe normal WIX filters are at 25-40 microns. All FRAM filters are tested to ISO 4548-12 tests. Those tests require particle sizes in the 10-20 micron range to be valid. Millions of dollars of research has determined that 10-20 micron particles are most harmful to engine wear. That is why we only test to the ISO standard and readily posy of filter efficiency. When a manufacturer uses a larger particle size for testing and claims, it is so they can inflate the efficiency rating. Any filter is 99% efficient at filtering out bowling *****. BTW- Particles smaller than 10 microns cannot harm an engine bearing.

They are not cardboard, I explained what they are. WIX and Purolator both slam us to promote their products. What a great marketing strategy! Imagine if GM commercials for a Chevy Cruze said, buy a chevy because ford focus sucks. What would that prove? Those guys do this because they simply do not want t show you their results of ISO testing. The cheapest Fram filter is 96% efficienct at 10-20 microns, The best WIX filter is 85%.
We are OE on Honda, We are OE on Subaru, both have reliability as good as well..a Miata. Go figure. watch the rest of the videos at youtube.com/cadfzillals6, learn and become an expert and then comment intelligently.

Not to be down on you. It's awesome we have someone from a major Filter vendor here.
But you have posted on ---- tons of different enthusiast automotive forums on this topic (Google gives hundreds to thousands of results), and were not entirely up front about being from Fram in your first posts. Why not post on a site such as Bob Is The Oil Guy, rather than enthusiast automotive forums instead? http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...Number=1740781 is one thread on them in particular I'm concerned about wrt posts you've made on simple enthusiast forums that do not have the expertise of Bob's.
(Edit) I take it back, you DO post on Bob's - http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...ile&User=34291
(Edit2) http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...2129517&page=1 - Interesting.

Guys, remember we're all just enthusiasts until someone is proven a shill.
oh wait...
Seriously though. Verify. Everything.
It does pay to ignore internet groupthink and figure things out for yourself.
This particular test showed Fram not comparing too well in the 10-20u range.
http://www.mr2.com/TEXT/oil_filter_test.html
Also, this discredit the claim that micron sizes below 10u don't cause wear. They look at actual oil clearance size for comparison.
http://www.oilguard.com/whareclpacs.html
Anecdotal:
Fram is the only filter I've had rust on the shelf. Yes, I live in Houston, I know, but none other has done that. I've also found large 0.25-0.50in thread burrs on the back side of the mounting threads on Frams.

I'd use Fram without hesitation on any of my stock cars, but my Miata and RX7 only runs one of two filters. Admittantly, if I could find a good enough deal on the Fram XG, I'd consider using it on the RX7, but not the Miata.

Without bragging too much here I have fairly extensive experience with EFI, OBD 1 and 2 and boost and as a trainer and training film producer for our brands I also produce aftermarket EFI software training videos with Greg Banish of Calibrated Success. I have built 2 Megasquirt EFI units with V3.0 boards and have tuned
on pretty much everything else. I was also part of the Grand Prix GTP world with my business partner Charles as Superdve so you'll find me there as well!
My neighbor road races Miatas and that's why I fell i love with them! For me the only choice was an NA as I could get into one cheap enough to leave money in the budget for boost. I'll probably go Bell if I run out of time to fab something from parts.
Jay and I use our products and we are automotive enthusiasts on many levels. If you see us getting passionate hopefully you'll see that our desire is to stick to the honest facts and not pollute a forum! If you are in the Detroit area and want to wrench with us or hang out at the studio we'll put you on the invite list.
