Chris - You will love the MegaSquirt. I run an MSI and could never go back to the POS Link Piggy this car had when I purchased it. I've had some very expensive Standalones in my time (On my old 500hp Miata). I must say the Megasquirt is easier to tune, and just as capable in my book.

I recently drag raced a Honda with 4 Wideband Sensors and EGT probes. You would be surprise how each cylinder would differ in EGT and A/F. I'd love to do the same with a Miata, but that would involve me getting a new manifold and 4 widebands :(

A/F was great after the Collector, but #4 on the honda was certainly the leanest!

I had headwork on my 99 but everything else was stock. I ran a 100 shot on it for a while with no special computer. Not pulling timing, etc. Car pulled but got a bit slower over time. (though I suspected a plugged catalytic converter as nitrous is hard on them). I was smart about using it though and never had any problems. Well I did pop a head gasket once but that was an electrical issue causing the nitrous to hit at idle. However it was lean with the headwork.

After installing MS2 the car was much quicker. Fuel made a huge difference and timing made a noticeable diff. Car was probably at 140whp on motor, 220 on bottle.

Now I have removed the direct port, switched to a 36-1 trigger wheel setup, no MAF sensor restricting my intake (car used to start pulling a vacuum over 7K), header, and 3" exhaust. Car is quicker for sure. Probably around 150whp right now.
