is it as simple as that? Aren't there 90-91 pulleys and then 91.5-93 pulleys?

90-93 uses a v-belt for the water pump and alternator. 94+ uses a ribbed belt. you would need those pulleys from a 1.8.

As far as fitment of the pulley on the crank, it must bolt right up because TurboTim runs his stock 1.6 pulley(92) on his 94 motor

Yes, my short-nose crank used a short-nose pulley for the 1.6. There is a 1.6 short-nose and 1.6 long-nose crank pulley.

They say that any pulley other than OEM can cause problems with the oil pump and main bearings. Just something I read when I was looking up info on them. OP might want to read up on that stuff...

The part # on the short-nose 89-91 is: B6S7-11-401A

It will fit vin numbers up to: 209446

Here's a link to a ebay auction that I sold a spare pulley a couple weeks ago.

There are two types of 1.6 crank pulley. Short Nose and Long Nose.

If you have a Long Nose then you could swap to a 1.8L crank pulley but you would also have to swap to a 1.8L alt also.

If you have a Short Nose you are SOL

i read all those supposed issues with the lighter non-harmonicly dampered pulleys. i've run one for 200k miles. i run one on my 300hp stock 99 motor. and i run the lightest smallest one i've ever seen. it only has pulley for the water pump/alt. It's an Unorthodox Racing Ultra R. Go figure

No **** hunh? I always wondered how true that was, I have just read about it so many times. My pulley has all that extra space for nothing...you know. All I need is the one slot for the alternator and water pump. So do you think its worth having the extra weight off, cause god knows the ******* OEM one weighs like 5 pounds!

Ignore what this guy says. He might have just exploded his oil pump on Saturday bouncing off the rev limiter cuz all it does is break loose in 2nd gear.

Talk about eating your words. Now I am gonna be going the other way and probably getting one of those ATI harmonic balancers. Or maybe billet oil pump gears. Definitely not both though.

Anyone wanna buy an Unorthodox Racing Ultra R underdrive pulley?

Damn man, sorry to hear that.

You think that's what caused the fail on the oil pump. I do remember reading an awful lot of **** about needing the balance for the oil pump and bearings.

Put that pulley up on ebay!!!

sadly... the billet oil pump gears are cheaper by far. I looked up the ATI dampers yesterday and I couldn't find them anywhere for less than what flying miata sells them for which is damn near $500.
