The ability to set the idiot lights/alarms and not have to scan gauges actually makes this look like a very interesting alternative for DD or on track. I haven't done anything yet for the V8 car and would be nice to not clutter it up with a three stack. Three good quality gauges would be $300 as well.

Can't see the vids at work but definitely interested in reviewing more when I get home.

That seems very affordable. I may look into this in the near future as an alternative to the aim dash for my spec car.

It IS very affordable. I did something like this for a friend a few years back. It ended up something like this:

It was more like $600 with all the sensors. It was a one-off.

+100000000. I would seriously consider this for my V8 track car as well. Get rid of the stock cluster and the eyeball gauges and just use this instead. I am always forgetting to check my gauges when on the track (since I am too busy trying to stay alive) so the warning function is very useful. Plus I like the huge RPM readout shown in the example display for checking corner speeds.

I presume there is not much issue tying it into an LS1 (GM) ECU and what not for the sending unit signals. They are wired up now anyway to the stock cluster. Also, I presume one does not need to understand Turkish to configure the software? I am a typical english speaking only American. I suppose I could use a translator from the interwebz.

Godless, I just sent you a PM. I would like to order a setup for my V8 car and I would appreciate your help in facilitating the order process.

I think once we have a set or two running in the US we could get an English manual together to make it easier for the US market. If I can be the guinea pig for the Adaptronic I can do it for this as well.

Well, it's 11:00 pm here now so it must be morning there and I see you are on. Looks like a couple of interested parties now. You should become the English-speaking distributor.

Is there an option for imperial units? We silly Americans can't understand a base 10 system.

Would love one too. I'm just getting gauges in the car and don't want it to look like a disco tech.

Damn, we have enough for a small group buy and consolidated shipping from Turkey. I can get them all shipped to me and then ship out UPS to everyone if desired.

Sorry for the late reply..
We are inundated with work these days, and have been pulling allnighters pretty much all week..

Anyway.. I spoke with Hakan, the guy who builds the kits..
Before I forget, The units can be programmed to display in any unit (metric, imperial, etc) you would like, as long as you specify what you want ahead of time.

The price for the single din unit is $260 plus shipping.
By single din, I mean the unit I actually have in my car.
There is also a larger display available, and that is $299 plus shipping.

The prices are lower than what I have posted (in #17) earlier due to changes in the exchange rates. Yes, Turkish Lira took a nose dive.

All the info on these units is available in one of my previous posts above. (post #17)

Shipping will be around $20 for each unit. That would be through the regular post office, and will take around 10 days.
Other options, such as UPS or FedEx are way too cost prohibitive. Those guys charge well over 100 bucks for a 1 lb package from Turkey to the US.

Hakan says he'll be happy to take the orders, btw..

Any other questions, I will gladly answer here.

For the record, I have no affiliation with this product, nor I have any financial gain whatsoever, I just like the product, and would like to help the guy out, that's all.

Can this be had without the LCD, for somebody who would want to display the gauges on a laptop screen modded for the car? If so, is there a significant cost savings?

It would be interesting to see different options without sensors/etc for folks that want to customize on this end.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

I asked about such a possibility.
The short answer is no.

And as for the reason, the LCD screen, and its driving circuitry is an integral part of the system. It's the LCD circuitry that renders the raw signals meaningful in terms of a legible display.
Also, all the (mode, etc) settings as well as the alarms run through that circuit. So, just the sensors and the main unit would not be a plausible solution I am afraid.

Hi there, my name is Hakan, and I make these units.
Let me try and explain maxidisplay`s details for you…
Sorry for about my English

You can see all details, pictures, videos and LCD size with technical info here:
http://www.techturkey.com/forum/maxi...xidisplay.html
It’s in Turkish, though you could use Google translate if you like, or Godless Commie may be able to help us again.

and
http://www.maxigauges.com
http://www.youtube.com/maxigauges

MAIN FEATURES:
This device shows to you important engine data on the LCD display, such as:
wideband AFR,
RPM,
EGT,
Water temp,
Oil pressure,
Oil temp,
TPS,
IAT,
Battery volts,
Outside temp,
Fuel pressure, etc..

Its works really fast, because it communicates directly with the sensors

The unit has two main components:
1- main unit
2- LCD screen + buttons + warning LEDs

This is not an off the shelf device
I fabricate the unit on request, per desired sensor inputs.

The way this device works:
Input filter and microcontroller for calculating values and alarms, also for displaying data on the LCD screen, and finally serial output for data logging.
(maxidisplay includes input filter + amplifier + microcontroller and LCD screen)

Map sensor input:
MAP SENSOR --> ( MAP FILTER + MICROCONTROLLER + LCD)
RPM input:
RPM SIGNAL --> (RPM FILTER + MICROCONTROLLER + LCD)
EGT input:
EGT SENSOR --> (EGT AMPLIFIER + MICROCONTROLLER + LCD)
WIDEBAND input:
(WIDEBAND SENSOR + CONTROL CIRCUIT) --> (INPUT FILTER + MICROCONTROLLER + LCD)
Just an O2 sensor is not enough, you must have a complete wideband device like AEM wideband or Innovate LC-1.

Here’s an example:
If you would like to display wideband AFR + EGT + RPM + oil pressure + water temp + battery volts + turbo boost
There are a total 7 inputs in this case . (Maximum 8 inputs are available, EGT comes standard)

Wideband AFR: Wideband O2 sensor cannot be connected directly to the unit.
You must have a complete wideband device like AEM wideband or Innovate LC-1.

RPM: RPM signal can be taken from the ECU connector or the back of the tachometer at the dashboard sockets.
RPM input has cylinder select and shiftlight setting functions within the setup menu.

BATTERY VOLTAGE: That is easy, just hook into any +12 Volt source.

WATER TEMP: Water and Oil temp sensors come with the kit, there is no extra charge for these sensors (that is, if you need them in your setup.
These sensors are calibrated to the unit, and must be used if Water and Oil temps are to be displayed.

TPS: That is easy, too. Just splice into the TPS output from the sensor – or the input from the sensor to the ECU.
A one-time calibration needs to be done for the TPS input in the setup menu.

IAT: A GM IAT sensor is used for this function. This sensor does not come with the kit, you can buy it from me, or source it yourself. Please ask me which sensors are compatible with the unit.

OIL PRESSURE: Again, this sensor does not come with the kit, you can buy it from me, or source it yourself.
Some customers want to use an AEM oil pressure sensor, and that’s possible (I need details for calibration)

TURBO MAP SENSOR: If the car already has a MAP sensor we can use it (I need map sensor details and part numbers)

EGT: You need an EGT sensor. I can supply it or you can buy it yourself.

Please ask for other inputs.
I try and use as many stock sensors that are already on the car as possible in the name of minimizing cost.

SERIAL OUT: Serial out cable and software is optional, and costs just 15$
(Maxidisplay has a serial out port, you can use windows hyperterminal program too, if you so choose.)
If you want the 9 pin serial cable and Maxidata windows software, that will be extra.
20 frame per second data out. (20 AFR data, 20 EGT, 20 TPS data, 20 RPM per second, simultaneously)

OPTIONAL RELAY OUT: optional, just 35$
If you want external controls, water injection , Qtec exhaust control , fan control, etc
In this case, serial out is disabled, and that port is used for the relay out function. (The relay comes with the kit in this case)
I can preprogram the unit to your specs, for whatever you need. It’s done through the setup menu.
For example:
over %70 TPS + over 6200 RPM + over 1 bar boost = energize water injection relay

LCD:
I generally use two type of LCD displays
“big LCD” and “huge LCD”
I also have what I call a “normal LCD” and “24x2 red” LCD display for special requests.

normal>normal
buyuk>big
kocaman>huge
http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/6884/ccch.png

ALARM:
The system has alarm functions (LED lights up and alarm buzzer sounds)

The red LED for extreme cases like high EGT, low oil pressure, etc.
The blue LED is used as a shiftlight.
The yellow LED can be used, if you like, as a low fuel warning, or minimum oil temp degree.
For instance, let’s say you set oil temp alarm level for 122F
Yellow LED will remain on as long as oil temp is under 122F, and once it warms up past that point, it will go off…

Of course, all alarm values, such as EGT temp, oil pressure, shiftlight point, water temp levels, etc. are user adjustable.

regards

Oh, I have made a couple changes since I installed the display unit:

That's a flip-up monitor, tucks away nicely when I do not need it.

sub'd

leaving work right now, but ill have to read this whole thread when i get to school later... this seems like a better option then buying the PBM ones.. and those only display 3 readings per unit, so id atleast have to buy two of those.
