Dude, I've lost all productivity for the afternoon, I'm rolling.

A big part of the intended market for this car is female, and another LARGER part is older folks. Neither group can be considered ideally suited to manual steering. While it may not be hard to steer it manually, many, MANY folks appreciate the ease of power assisted steering.
And, as mentioned above, setting up your suspension/alignment to improve the ease of steering has other unpleasant effects on other aspects of the car. Is Mazda embracing the "girly car" stigma of the past models now? This worries me. Thank you for understanding. All the best, MX-5 Miata Forum |

Good grief, you've got too much free time on your hands.

I'm still super disappointed that I was banned for changing my username to Jerry G Fischerman. |
I thought about replying and reminding him that i DID use the term "stigma" and that i put "girly car" in quotes, showing that i didn't agree with any such thing and that i find his assumption that i'm sexist offensive.
But that seemed like too much work, and i can't get banned until i sell M.net all my super lame SE stuff from my current victim. |
Not sure how credible this article is, but the comments are funny.
Accessories for New Miata Released | News | Mazda just released the new accessories available for the new 2016 Miata while in Chicago for the Chicago Auto Show. Their ceramic-colored prototype on display has all the bells and whistles. So what can you slap on the latest version of Mazda’s iconic roadster? First of all, you can include a special aero kit, which includes a front air dam, side sill extensions, rear bumper skirt and rear lip spoiler. On top of the added body styling, there will be Brembo brakes available, BBS wheels, and a luggage rack. Some enthusiasts scoff at a luggage rack on these cars. However, this rack is a little more intense than your everyday chrome suit case holder. It’s made of carbon fiber and weighs less than two pounds. It looks like even luggage racks can be sporty. So would you choose any of these ad-ons, or is less more? |

I was at the Miata event in Chicago on Friday. I even got to sit in the car. It's really nice guys...
If I recall the aero, wheels, and brakes are from the Miata Cup car development and according to Mazda is functional. How functional we will find out I am sure. |
I wonder what they're going to do for a hard top for racing. My understanding is no PRHT for the ND (or maybe it will come later?).
|
I'm sure they'll do one later, but i bet they offer a removable hardtop for a bit, just like they did with the NC.
|
I heard a guy ask a Mazda executive at the official unveiling about a PRHT, he said not in 2016 - maybe later.
My biggest complaint is that I don't see a good way to put a roll bar on it, just like there is no good way on the NC. |
(minimum) Curbs were posted at Geneva.
2.0L is 1070-1090kg (w/ 75kg driver), so 2193.6 to 2237.7lbs. A few people looked up the Euro way of determining curb weights and were comparing US vs Euro curbs; they were only off by a handful of lbs. So 155hp/148ft-lbs @ 2220lbs? I can dig it. |
They'll manage to make the lightest USA version heavier than 2238lbs because marketing thinks that in murica people wont buy a car unless it has 6 airbags, blue tooth, air con, and heated side view mirrors. And of course they also wont buy a car with 155hp even if it weighed 1500lbs.
|
2250lbs is still a good number.
I'm buying a fully loaded one with heated seats and everything else that's offered. I don't care that it won't be the ND to have for autocross, but autocross is for tossers. |
I'm still so mad that it's not 1900lb and 400whp
Get it together mazda |
I'm not mad, the car's gonna kick ass at 2200lbs and 155hp, but its going to be a sales bomb.
|
It all depends on price.
|
Somebody says Top Gear is slated to have the ND on within the next week or so.
