You're not fooling anyone. That's clearly Jeffbucc's undercarriage. The diff's been polished. Hahahaha!!

Seriously though, very cool. I'm looking forward to my 2018 model!

After seeing these in person at MATG, I am no longer sold on an ND. I really do not like the interior, or the trunk. The rear end is... I dunno, fat.

I am going to have to test drive one to really make up my mind... But it sure makes me love my NB that much more.

Brian just got back from the local dyno with the shop ND.

Best torque gain is 5+ Ftlbs torque in the midrange right where most folks are driving. Lots more testing to come.

I will add that the car is more temp sensitive with the stock muffler back pressure, this was by far the best stock run shown here, it was more consistent with the higher flowing muffler.

Also compared to a stock NC.

GOOD NEWS HERE!

Precisely what Mazda has been telling us.....yes 5hp less peak at the wheels than our 2012 was stock but MUCH STRONGER torque spread.

Well done Mazda...the better torque is awesome!

And notice ND is stronger for hp from idle until about 6000rpms!

It seems like only yesterday....

Nice work Mazda. I like how 155 hp at the crank = 142 whp, hehe. A bit conservative, indeed.

How does this dyno compare to a Dynojet?

I wasn't gonna comment on the exhaust "gains" but I'm glad you did

But really, you gotta cut them some slack: the modifications have to start somewhere. Or would you prefer the aftermarket wait til 20 years from now to finally start making progress on the ND like we had with the na/nb?

If you're putting an exhaust on most any new sports car just for HP gains, you're doing it wrong.

Combination of sound, looks, weight, and a bit of power is plenty for most people. I'll be putting an exhaust on the s2k simply because the stock one is too quiet. I expect many will do the same with the ND.

He's still debating on buying the 1st mod, a downpipe for his wrx.
He'll let you know in 25 years when he decides.

.....Or did you really think that the administrator of a miata site actually.....owns....a....miata?

DynoDynamics are typically heartbreakers, depending on corrections.

for example:
stock 2001. Note the classy establishment where it occured.

eggplants to the shop for graphing LB / MPH.

I'm curious how they'll respond to boost on 93 with that high compression engine; I believe it's 13:1. I can't wait to see the first turbo setup. Has there been any speculation as to a prototype FM kit?

KW's Dyno Dynamics was a bit stingy. That's what has my attention. This thing might actually be making 142whp on a Dynojet. If so, it explains that 5.8s 0-60mph on stock tires. We're just around the corner from getting ours. We already have a pile of parts to test on it.

I believe the general rule for dyno dynamics, mustang, etc. is to multiply the result by 1.1. In that case, that car is making more to the wheels with an exhaust than Mazda claims it makes at the crank.

There is no general rule anymore. I laugh when people say "heartbreaker mustang", like they all read low accross the board.

If that one does, for sure, then those numbers are quite nice.

I think the dyno Brian ran the ND seems inline with most Dynojets. A lot of the charts he's gotten from there for NC parts like headers are inline with the Dynojet plots from customers.

I've been meaning to do a back to back with my car on the Dynojet I use and this one. However, in my experience Dyno Dynamics typically report on the low end compared to Dynojets. Confirmed with Brian we are going to put it on the local dynojet as well.

Brian also provided some more overlays comparing the NC with a header to the ND (he has years of NC data on this dyno).

Red Line is 2016 STOCK
BLUE LINE is Project 2012 PRHT with our full Roadstersport Ceramic Coated STREET catted header and RoadsterSport Midpipe and RoadsterSport Q exhaust.

Analysis: stock ND does indeed run neck and neck for torque with NC when we give the NC our catted header that looks very much like what Mazda has now added to the ND. We should underscore that our NC with catted header in these results ALSO has full 2.5 inch exhaust back from the header back, while the ND is stuck pushing through stock small midpipe and muffler in this comparison... so not yet a fair comparison of ND vs. NC with similar exhaust configurations. And we also see that if we go catless on the NC with our RoadsterSport Max Power header then that is quite a bit more powerful than ND with stock exhaust system. Hopefully the ND responds well to catless header so it can re-take the crown here, hope to find out soon!

Heres to hoping there is enough overhead in the stock fuel system for E85.

I suspect with that comp ratio + E85 + ignition/cam tuning, there should be some nice gains to be seen.
