Why would you assume that?

It is a 949 Racing project car. Don't have a name for it yet.

Just realized why the wheels look small. We modeled the wheel at 17x9 but that's the OD and width. A 17x9 wheel is actually something like 18.5" OD and about 10" width. We didn't factor that in. So the wheels rendered a bit small, making the tires look chunkier. In any case, we should have the first 17x9 samples in a few weeks so we'll post pictures, not renderings.

Don't really care that rendering of wheel size may not be 100%, that's still hot....and I love the aero bits and the color!

I like the rendering as it's more of that Lotus light orange like your first one. Can we see it with that black chrome nickel finish John did?

It's our standard orange we paint all our cars, whether we were able to capture it in the render or not. Badges are rendered in gray actually. Sorry, we aren't taking requests

When the car was being built and was mostly still a bear cub we had just purchased a brand new Harbor Freight 30 ton press. Two shiny new orange things sitting next to each other in the shop. I had the thought, they are both built to crush things. One hubs and the other, the competition. Crusher! It was just stupid enough to stick.

It occurs to me you could have been in the shop when that happened.

I arrived shortly afterwards, when you guys were having trouble getting the first MS3s up and running due to trigger problems (what would become the start of a long saga of frustration.)

It was a rainy weekday evening, and you had a dyno session the next day. Managed to get both ECUs running and called it a night.

I still chuckle when I remember that your official team color is Harbor Freight Orange.

So a name like "The Press" or "Under Pressure" or "Exerting Force" seems reasonable.

Fiat code Arancio (orange) Europcar 026 actually. Car was painted before we got the press. Found the color in a paint chip book at One Day paint and body in Anaheim.

You can justify it all you want, it's still Harbor Freight Orange.

Default miata.net-like discussion thread (about the ND or something)

A question for the part of my mind who thinks it's a good plan to be faster in a stockish ND than 175whp NB (same poor driver/mechanic);

How wide is it with the mirrors folded in?
I.e. will it fit my trailer where I have to fold the NB mirrors?

With mirrors folded in, eyeballed with a tapemeasure it looks like 70.5". A bit difficult to get exact number since you have to hold the tape measure above the windshield, maybe say 71" to be on the safe side.

And my trailer is 72.5"..., so that "reason" is not a blocker...

Thanks for measuring.

bottle jack and a 4x4 strategically placed inside your trailer can make it a little wider.

I drove a club yesterday. First thing I noticed was that on start up the exhaust/cat was really loud with the door open. After about a minute the idle changed and it was quite. The top comes down easily with one hand, if you do it too slow you have to reach back and lock in place by hand. The seats have a nice lower shape like a Elise seat and the back is similar to the 99-up seat. It has one adjuster that lifts the front thigh section up to bucket the seat more. The glovebox is ala S2000. Thought I would really hate the big info center but once I was driving I never even noticed it. You have to unlock the doors to open the gas lid like a G35. I almost stalled it leaving the parking spot, the flywheel is very light, rev matches perfect. Feels like a 1.6 with a 10lbs fly.

Once out of the parking lot the extra torque was immediately noticeably. Down low it feels like a lot bigger motor than it is. The exhaust note is similar to a very high mileage NA stock exhaust. The steering is very light, like first couple of turns I had to make lots of corrections to the wheel due to oversteering it. It rides really nice but I still noticed some cowl shake on filled in pothole roads similar to an NA/NB. Ripping through some corners I never noticed the body roll like a lot of the reviewers have stated, not really a big deal IMHO. It seems more stable in corner entry, like it doesn't have to take a set, just ready to be pushed harder however fast you enter a corner. The rear comes out really smooth and you can hold a slip angle very easily. The gearbox is really nice, gates are spaced normally unlike the 99-05 6spd and the engagement notches in like it should. Its still not better than a fresh bushinged 5spd, but very close. It was able to slightly accelerate up a decent hill at 45 in 6th. I never once looked at the tach, it has so much mid range pull that I could just shift whenever and stay in the power. It was lugging at 1500rpm at 35 in 6th.2

I'm 5'10" and seemed to have about 2" of head room on the second to last click back of the seat. Once they break in I bet you could get another 1". The soft top was really well made with a hard noise blocker from the front running about a foot back that should keep the top from buffeting when it gets stretched out and your on the highway. Had a couple of built in rainwells which is nice. The cup holders are better placed for shifting and nothing seems to get in your way. Felt a lot like a modern NA with lots of low end grunt. Really didn't feel like I needed anything that was added to the Club over the sport. The added aero looked cheap, like off ebay. I wonder if you could get the sport with an LSD? Not really a fan of the soul red, but that's subjective. Hoping they have more color options for 2017 as most of the ones this year are pretty boring. If your a NA/NB fan and never really liked the NC, your in for a treat with this car. Defiantly suggest you go drive one on a good 15-20 minute loop.

I'm ~6 foot. And almost all torso. The stock seats are too tall for me. I end up staring at the top of the windshield frame.

Haven't driven an ND yet, but I'm also 6'1", torsoey, and with stock seats in either an NA or NB, my head sometimes comes into contact with the #2 header bow. From Jacob's description, I'm guessing an ND will fit about the same.

Yep. I'd compare it to an NA/NB. I would have to cut out the seat mounts, or foamectomy to fit right.
