These are probably the same people who prefer the 1.6 to the 1.8 because of the cam profile -- despite the 1.8 making more torque everywhere.

Typically a Dyno Dynamics should be lower reading than a Dynojet, but i wonder if it was in "shootout mode."

Whenever I like to picture thrust as a force, I choose to visualize two 250lb women and the effort it takes to move them.

As Concealer would say, "Aww yiss!"

close enough. it's not like the two plots posted are well matched either.
I just want to see how it stacks up on paper since everyone agree's it's better than both the other cars

I didn't know this was such a hot topic on m.net
I never go there because I value my brain cells

Up to about a couple years ago I was obsessed with peak power. Now I'm starting to appreciate torque more and more on my daily drivers, to the point that I'd be willing to give up the 9k redline and extra 40hp up top if I could have 40tq down low/midrange. So I'm liking the ND powerband. just my .02

That woman is lying about her weight. She's gotta be at least 300

She doesn't look like she's hiding very much about herself.

She may only be 4'11".

My experience with knowing women's weights is limited.

I know what 5'6" and 120lbs is like. And I know I'm 6'1" and 185. Beyond that I'm no carnie weight guesser.

I'm weirdly good at it.
I would say 5'8" and a smidge under 300.

Went to a Mazda ride and drive event today. Got to drive a new Club manual back to back with an FRS. It was just on a little tiny short autox course, couldn't even top out 2nd gear and it was very narrow cone paths.

I came out of the car after the first run in the Miata and was trembling with desire. Holy smokes that thing is fantastic. What a sweet little mill. I definitely wanted more revs but it was so smooth and torquey, and soooo easy to control little slides. Just really a fantastic little car.

As soon as I got home I jumped in the S2k and went for a drive.

They're just so... different. I had texted my dad saying the Miata was definitively BETTER, but it isn't. It's just different. The S2k still has a feeling of solidity and refinement, a precision in the engine and transmission that isn't quite there in the ND. But the ND feels SO MUCH LIGHTER.

Ah. I loved that thing. It's no doubt the better DD. There's just something about winding out that sweet Honda mill though that the ND doesn't have.

Wish there was room for both in my garage (and budget), but two roadsters is probably enough

Wait! Didn't we recently read about an ND that got totaled as the owner pulled out of the dealership? That's right up Ed's alley!

I'm bummed that

A) I'm yanking the wonderful soft top and comfy heated leather seats with nice headrest speakers on mine. Sparco Evo II's and 6pt camlocks going in.

B) Losing it to Moti for two weeks while he prototypes the ND GT3 bar.

It's funny, I've been dinking around with Miatas for so many years and my favorite modified Miatas is always the NA with BGK, mildly built NB2 engine, light flywheel, 15x9's and a 6 x4.3 drivetrain. The ND drives just like that only it's comfy, prettier, gots bluetooths and killer sound. Yah, love.

Has there been any word from mazda on a removable hard top? I read a post from Moti that suggested the street bar might not be able to meet SCCA/NASA requirements. That leaves the gt3 bar he is building around your car, which requires removal of the soft top. The majority of the HPDE crowd interested in the ND will want to keep it as a dual purpose car.

Did Moti say the bar will not work with a soft top? I had thought it was only being removed for design/installation, and would be put back in.

I think the market for a car with a roll bar and no roof is extremely limited..

I thought about picking up that ND last night after I saw you post the link. Would make a good test jig to get working on a ND turbo setup. Unfortunately I don't have the time or space at the moment to make it work.
