That sure didn't take long.

Ross said they had the 1.5L for more than 6 months so they had some time to develop it. Ecutek is about 3 weeks away from releasing the tuning suite so that's one of the last steps in bringing this to market. I have to say, it looks good. ss cast manifold and DP outlet, inconel turbo flange studs and ss DP studs/nuts.

They seem to ALWAYS be one of the first in many markets/cars

Lots of bits in that kit that made a positive first impression for me.

We will have an AVO kit for the 2.0 to test before the new year. The only difference needed between 1.5 and 2.0 versions is the manifold and the tune.

We just had our prototype header on the dyno this morning and saw new best numbers by a small margin - whp up to 167 and torque up to 171 ft-lbs. I think that the "easy button" for those who want more than ~160whp with this car will be a mild-boost setup.

That car would be a total blast. Excellent.

Actual content from me (read: me not reposting garbage from mnet): Took the ND to an autocross today that was held in an old Sears parking lot, and it was great. The course was fairly slow and tight, but no pinching or awful design course wise.

If there's one word I'd use to describe driving a bone stock (minus alignment) ND on the S001s, it's definitely "effortless". The car just works.

Two NDs sitting out front at Rosenthal in Arlington, VA if anyone near DC needs a test drive.

How close are those numbers to a dynojet with SAE correction?

We have a dynojet in town and have run cars same day on both and numbers are nearly identical. I don't recall the correction factor, I'll check with Sean when he gets in this morning.

IDK why people complain about body roll

Rockin' the boat

Dunning Kruger Affect 11-09-2015 03:10 PM

Ugh, I must look so uncool to all of those stanced Toyobarus that I raw timed by whole seconds. My street cred. :(

18psi 11-09-2015 03:37 PM

:giggle: @ dat body roll

and REALLY stoked to see that AVO turbo kit that was ordered, that was really fast :)

cabowabo 11-09-2015 04:47 PM

The amount of body roll is too damn high!

Blackbird 11-13-2015 04:34 PM

Food for thought for anyone asking themselves why they should even consider a roll bar, let alone one that is built to the highest standards -

S2000 stock hoops are being put to the test.
Note that the S2000 hoops are stronger than the NC / ND hoops by a good margin, but still nowhere near the strength (or size) of a proper roll bar.

The great thing about that is that it's literally everything that track guys preach about in one nice little concise video and a few pics, and it will be met with "nah, bruh i got good car controls" 95% of the time.

Serious question:

If you are Mazda, and you are embarking upon a jihad to re-invent the sports car which you resurrected from the grave 25 years ago, and you happen to be the title sponsor of the single most popular racing series in the history of the world, and you're not a bunch of complete dumbasses, and you actually know the difference between good shit and bad shit, why in HELL would you build a suspension system which allows that to happen?

turbofan 11-13-2015 11:31 PM

Here's the thing, Joe.

Mazda knows that the racers will modify the car regardless of how the stock suspension is.

Mazda also knows that the greatest portion of Miata buyers -- and those least likely to modify the vehicle -- are far more concerned with a comfy ride and the sensation of speed, both of which are accomplished with that... questionable suspension setup.

Ding! ^He's got it.

Have you driven one?

I have not.

From what I've heard from Emilio et al, the ND is basically the best-handling factory car since... ever.

And, to be fair, my '92 looked like that the first time I took it to an AutoX.

Still...
