Bottom diagram depicts a 99 climate control connector, and how it must be wired to a 93 dash harness. 99 position 1 to 93 position 4 and so on.

I didn't finish the dash illumination system, since you said yours works, and it's on a different page of the workshop manual.

On the large connector,
99 position 1 is fan speed 2
93 position 4 is fan speed 2

On the small NB specific 3 pin connector, position 1 NB goes to position 3 on the NA large connector. That's +V to illuminate the a/c on indicator.

I assume the R/B and G/W 2 position connector you have pictured is the NA dash illumination harness.

Ok, I think I understand and If I do then I have it all wired correctly. I think all I need to do is ground the NB3 wire which is blue/yellow?

And where should the diode go?

And in case I'm reading this wrong NB2 and NB3 both go to position 2

If you ground NB3, then the a/c comp can run with the fan off.

Suggest you continue to study the diagram

Just so I'm not mixed up I labeled the pins....

Pin 1 on the HVAC side goes to Pin 4 on the NA harness
Pin 2 on the HVAC side goes to Pin 5 on the NA harness
Pin 3 on the HVAC side is empty
Pin 4 and 5 go to the lights
Pin 6 on the HVAC side goes to Pin 7 on the NA harness
Pin 7 on the HVAC side goes to Pin 8 on the NA harness
Pin 8 on the HVAC side goes to Pin 6 on the NA harness

NB1 goes to Pin 3 on the NA harness
NB2 goes to Pin 2 with a diode on the NA harness
NB3 goes to Pin 5 on the NA harness

It probably works either way, but I think putting the diode on NB3 is a better idea, after actually looking at the diagrams.
That's why I put it there on my pinout.

Put the diode before where Pin 2 joins in?

NB3 goes to Pin 5 on the NA harness
Pin 2 on the HVAC side goes to Pin 5 on the NA harness

Both go to Pin 5 on the NA pig tail

Got ya. You want the diode in line on the jumper between NA5 (main harness) and NB3 (a/c switch harness). You do not want the diode in the fan speed circuit.

Run the jumper from the NA harness 5 to NB3. Cut that wire, then put a diode in it. Note that the diode is directional. The banded end goes away from the a/c button.
