Holy ****, at least most of it was a simple fix.

I can't see the pictures here at work, so I get to laugh again(harder) when I get home.

Good luck getting the most out of it djp.

Oh...yeah...there's a hole in the top of the manifold!

Most of use complain when we get flange interface leaks at the flange right after that hole...you've got a ~1/4" leak there. From what I've read, air pressure is between 20-30 psi there, so that's like having a missing valve stem. I imagine a lot of air comes out of there fast, and could surely be robbing you of 30-50hp.

Not to pile on but didn't that massive exhaust leak coming from that hole clue you, they dyno guys, your friends, etc. that something wasn't right? Even with that, seeing 17psi it's likely effecting spool up more than top end. Pretty obvious you've moved outside the efficiency range of that turbo. Diminishing returns doing that.

Have you run a bolt into that opening yet? Curious what difference you might get out of that.

oh my ******* god. Please tell me you're not pro-creating. Please.

if you have even a tiny DP leak at the turbo power will fall off significantly.

This is what I don't understand. I would expect to hear an obvious and massive hissing when the car was on the dyno, but I didn't. I would expect to hear something even when the car is idling, I didn't. That pisses me off because I just had the car tuned ($300). I'll see what differnece it makes in the butt test before I pull the boost down from 16psi.

did the port go all the way through? don't see any signs of exhaust coming from it. be careful of over boost if so.

It didn't look like it went straight through, but I couldn't confirm that it was blocked off. LAter tonight I'll take the bolt out and try sticking some wire through there to see if there really was exhaust leaking through

I doubt it went all the way though, seems like you would know if it did. I would think a leak like that would make plenty of noise and the entire enginebay would be black.

Noise and the constant smell of exhaust in the car would have been tip offs.

Seems pretty clear that the hole doesn't go all the way though since I never experienced any of the above problems. I think in the next couple of months I'll jump on the china charger bandwagon.
