I used VHT Wrinkle on both of mine.

Cleaned the covers up with sand paper and wire wheel. Then wiped them down with rubbing alchohol.

Attachment 207710

Used one whole can per valve cover.

Attachment 207711

Didn't bake them, but used a spot light to get the wrinkles going.

Attachment 207712

Let them sit for 5 days as instructed.

Here is how it looked after 24 hours.

Installed on the 5th day.

Did the same for my NB.

I think I prefer the Duplicolor over the VHT stuff. The VTH wrinkles too much for my taste. The Duplicolor is a good bit smoother. VHT looks like you used paint remover on it and froze it in time mid way through.

Has anybody done just a plain Matte finish instead of shiny or wrinkly?

straight out of the BEGi catalog, son. Some of the deciding factors in my decision to buy from them. Even if the cops didn't work, they certainly look awesome. I'm most proud of the valve-cover I cut with a circular saw. I think the engine may have stopped at tdc too, lol.

Nice, where is your re-route pipe?

Why?

To get the inset letters black. I tried several methods, taping ended up being the easiest with the best results.

Black crinkle powdercoat w/ fleabay filler cap...

NA6C-Guy 03-04-2009 02:39 AM

Enjoy getting your fingerprints removed every time you open the filler on a hot engine? I did that once (aftermarket oil filler cap) and will never do it again. That think would literally be hot enough to burn your prints off for up to half an hour after shutoff. I'll take my plastic OEM cap.

+1

Mine came with a crappy annodized blue one -nothing on the car is blue- that I freakin hate.

Nice covers guys, I think I'm going to straight polish my extra.

Maybe, I wouldn't though. It might look okay for a day or two but after it gets some oil stains it won't look so hot.
