I'm running e-codes; no pics sorry. PIAA H4's x4 (my "fog" lights are also H4's).

So in conclusion
HL88991S Optilux H4 Bulb, 12V, 100/80W, Optilux Xenon XB, each $10.00
would be my best choice for a brighter OE looking bulb
And they are only $10 each, I'll buy three and keep one as a spare in the car.

^ Just get the regular halogen. It will be enough.

If you're going to run halogen bulbs, I'd recommend going with the Cibies. A little more money, but they are a better lamp.

So youre experiment with that HID stuff concluded with Hella housings? You got some pictures?

I disagree. The HIDs were much better than halogen bulbs. Yes, I quit with the Hellas. No, I didn't take pictures.

No No. I meant get halogen vs xenon.

Obviously HID would be brighter.

------

I just called rally lights. They said that if you don't want to strain the wiring harness in the car then they recommend getting these if you plan to run high beams for long lengths of time and want the brightness of the 100/80 bulbs.

Hyper H4 Bulbs - 12V
Bulb H4 Bulb, 12V 85/80W Hyper with 2400/1750 lumens, by Osram

http://www.rallylights.com/hella/H4.asp#HYPER

Otherwise if you dont plan to use highs for long, he said the 100/80 are fine.

edit: they are also still honoring the miata.net 10% discount. Just put that you are from miata.net in the comments box.

http://dastern.torque.net/Photometry/isocomparo.html

Here is a comparison of the beam pattern of cibies vs hella.

Makes me want to get Cibies based on the pattern.
----

Did more googling into Osram. Supposedly some new technology into the bulb really really bright for what they are. But money++

Edit 1: Cibies are twice as expensive as Hellas. Literally.

I've got Hellas and 100/80. Like everyone has said, waaay better than the stock glow sticks.

I am still thinking about trying out HID, probably some ching chang bi-xenon because I want hi/low. I don't think anyone here has run anything but just low beam HID yet.

Cibie must have jacked the **** out of their prices recently. I paid like $78 for my Hella e-codes, and the Cibies were like $85 or 90.

They are selling them for 80 each, unlike hell which is 80 a pair.
