I've been trying to find one of these online; the ones I have found either don't have the screws in the right location or one of the ports is turned 180 degrees the wrong way. Does anyone have a direct link to the part that fits?

EDIT: Link: http://www.blackbox.com/Store/Detail...e-Exit-2/FA881

Also this one if you want it turned 180* from the one above:

I bought the one you have linked from amazon, it fit perfectly, no trimming or longer screws required. I mounted my MS2 in the factory location with the serial port toward the firewall and the vac. hose and harness toward the seat. Mine points the serial port toward the passenger side of the car, the serial cable then goes behind the dash to the passenger side.

Aww man, that's not what I wanted to hear. Are you sure? According to how it's mounted and what the pictures show the one from BlackBox is the one to get. The smaller edge of the serial point should be pointing towards the passenger side of the car. The one on Amazon has the longer edge of the serial piece on the inside of the 90* bend which would mean it would point towards the driver's side. I already ordered the one from BlackBox earlier today; we'll see how it goes I suppose. :P

I just did it 2 weeks ago. I reused the upper stock ECU mounting bracket and used it in the lower mounting position of the stock ECU. The MS2 sits between the brake and clutch with loads of room. It wasn't hard at all. I ordered the adapter from amazon and it currently points toward the passenger side. Everything clears fine.

I mounted my DIYPNP exactly the same way msm782 did, but I used a Radio Shack Gigaware Serial to USB adapter with no 90° adapter. It fit, but it was tight.

So I ordered the FA881 DB9 Right-angle connector from that blackbox.com website and got it yesterday. I totally forgot about the lip/edge on the side of the MegaSquirt that has the DB9 connection. msm782, I can see why you got the connector that points in the opposite direction to avoid that but I still don't see how yours points to the passenger side still, did you flip the MegaSquirt upside down?

I took a photo of the connector I bought (which was suggested back on page 22 I believe) and added it here for others to view. Did anyone else get a similar connector and was able to clear the lip on the MS cover? Other photo added for reference from page 22.

I am guessing that I can swap the screws from one end to the other?

I see what you did with the bracket now. I didn't use the lower bracket at all. I used the upper bracket and used a bolt&nut to go through one of the supplied holes on the flange at the edge of the case (the flange on the front and back that provides a hole on each corner of the MS2 case). That was then bolted to the stock lower bracket mounting location on the firewall between the clutch and brake. This seemed to work the best for me. Sorry for the poor quality pic, its hard to get a good shot up there:

Can someone provide me with good quality pics of how the stock ECU is bolted up there? Maybe I can figure out something.

EO2K 06-20-2012 03:33 PM

Hell, mine fits in there better than that... but I think I'm zip-tied at the top. I'll snap some pics tonight.

I can snap some pictures later if I remember. Luckily they left the stock ECU in my car whenever the previous owner had the Hydra installed. My MS finally left customs yesterday and departed from Albany, NY this morning so hopefully I'll get it before the weekend. :)

Great, the last few pics made it really clear, thanks! Does anyone have a set of these mounts that they no longer need?

I might have it

Reverant 07-02-2012 09:59 AM

Let me know if you do.

Here is the MegaSquirt bolted to the OEM bracket and mounted in my 2000 Miata. Fits like a glove.
