I wish this were a joke, but it isn't. Since the 1960s, one of the highest-rated original programs on our station has traditionally been a four-hour-long segment which we do once a year, wherein we point a camera at a piece of wood and then set the wood on fire.

Yup, that's it. Four hours of burning wood, uninterrupted.

The Yule Log (TV Movie 1966) - IMDb

The wood even has its own fansite: The Yule Log.com

We even syndicate the freaking thing to our sister stations in other markets. It beats Good Morning America in the ratings. For real.

This is too damn funny not to share, if you're a Walken fan. (Walker? Walkie?)

In my opinion, the finest show ever shown on television.

Well, I dunno if I'd go that far. There's been some truly epic stuff coming out of the cable networks over the past decade (Deadwood, Hell on Wheels, Oz, Homeland, etc.)

In fact, just within modern sci-fi, I'd easily rank the 2004-2009 Battlestar Galactica in the #1 spot.

There were some damn fine moments, though.

Yeah, there's been some pretty decent shows I guess, not many that I care for very much though. Battlestar Galactica was definitely awesome and way up there on my list. I just think TNG had such a good mix classic science fiction stories, with a blend of fun and drama, and almost always a message or insight into humanity or modern day issues. If I've had a bad day, there is nothing that brings a little joy to my day like seeing Picard, Riker, Data, Worf and LaForge on the screen.

TNG bloopers are always good. I just found this one, and love seeing Dorn so out of character. Completely opposite of Worf. 1:44 is begging to become a meme. I can almost guarantee it would take off.
