this thread serves no purpose unless it's all pictures.

I mean the pony thing in particular. I remember sitting down several months ago and doing a fairly exhaustive historical analysis, and I'm pretty sure that you were the first person to post a pony meme on the forum.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

That's a bad *** little engine. I was going to make a positive comment about the 123hp 1L engine in the Fiesta being pretty decent for such a small car. That is until I realized the Fiesta weighs 3,000 pounds! I understand safety is a big thing these days, but ****. No wonder cars aren't getting better efficiency than they do, they weigh so damn much. I guess I'm out of touch with modern times. The newest car I've ever bought or owned was a 1995 year model. I guess all cars are just heavy these days.

The Fiesta is the same length, 1" wider, and about 9" taller than an NA, yet almost a half ton more in weight.

And I think to myself:

I mean, is the block made from a non-waterproof material? Does the crankshaft require a large quantity of ivory and human stem-cells to manufacture? Can it only run on U85 fuel (15% gasoline, 85% unicorn tears)? Why, exactly, would this engine be unsuitable for use in a production car?

And/or it makes very little torque and only makes that horsepower when spun to 15k rpms, rendering it useless for modern behemoths.

But it would be perfect for a Lotus Seven replica...

CVTs are becoming fairly commonplace, as are conventional automatics with 7-8 gears. There are a couple of 9 speed autos now in the world, and both GM and Ford are supposedly working on 10s.

280 ft/lbs.

and only makes that horsepower when spun to 15k rpms,
Peak power is at 7,500 RPM.

It would be perfect for a lot of things, starting with the mid-engined vehicle they haven't designed yet which will compete with the 911 and the Corvette, and in the front of the hot hatch that they forgot how to build in the 80s.
