The block is the same?
I don't understand the confusion, but I have the day off and have been drinking while doing construction projects, so you may need to spell it out for me.

Ima lay it out for you:
1. Erat posts vid of "internally stock" Escort GT dynoing 500 whp, asks how possible when Miata BP's struggle to survive at 300 whp.
2. mgeoffriau posts links to Escort and Protege forum threads that indicate that Escort and Protege BP's are no different internally than Miata BP's -- no special forged rods, etc.
3. aidandj posts guesses at why Escorts can do this, and Miatas can't.
4. Monk posts image of Escort/Protege BP valve cover.

1. Monk sees confusion about internals being the same.
2. Tipsy Monk reasoning comes up with the following.
Escort motors have a valve cover.
Said valve cover fits on miata

Escort head = miata head

Escort block = miata block

internals the same.
So by deductive reasoning we get:
miata and escort valve covers are swapable

Miata and escort motors are the same.
In no way is this correct. But drunk logic rarely is

Gotcha. I guess I wasn't confused at all.
Escort and miata 1.8s are the same. Internally at least.
I thought you were confused about the fact that escorts came with the same 1.8 (internally, although earlier) than miatas.

This is a perfect example that it doesn't matter what type of car you have, we will make it fast!

My buddy (he's actually on here) has made around 330whp on his fwd protege OEM long block with evo3 16g turbo and he absolutely MOLESTS the car street racing everything that will give him the time of day.
Dozens of drag strip runs, 3-4 years of abuse, countless launches, countless hard shifts (he only knows ALLOFIT, nothing else), and 12 transmissinos later, his block finally went.
My other buddy has made 350whp on a OEM long block on a Miata, also street races it, and also dozens of low 12 second/high 11 second passes, and finally it also went after about a year or two.
I don't think the question is about "cant". At least for me. I did the tuning
I've posted proof/videos before. I can post them again.
