Stone Town, Zanzibar

A densely populated, pretty "aromatic" little town on the west side of the island.
Incredibly narrow streets, countless souvenir shops, tourist traps, a few decent restaurants here and there...

The water and power utilities shown in those photos remind me of my childhood in Puerto Rico. The infrastructure there is equally abstract.

That's one way to put it. Unfortunately it was still like that when the hurricane hit last year. Hopefully it will be upgraded during the restoration (last I heard something like 35,000 poles were being imported).

Here's a fuel filter from a diesel. If you look closely you can see the folded paper elements down in the dirt and algae.
