True story. I was on a ship going through the Suez one time. We were in a consistent section of the canal and the Captain went to his office for something. He looked out his forward porthole to see we were closer to the ship ahead than we had been. He went to the bridge to see what was going on, and found the pilot praying on the bridge wing. When he told the pilot about being close, the pilot replied that it was no problem. Maybe not for him since he was praying, but for the rest of us it was. I am honestly not surprised this happened, only that it took so long.

Well, GI Joe taught us that knowing is half the battle.
So, knowledge is a weapon.
Doubly so when the enemy of the state happens to be The People.
Granted, I doubt that knowledge of astronomy is directly threatening to those who would control us, but in another sense, special knowledge makes people unequal, and inequality breeds resentment and jealously, and ultimately violence. Much as with guns, the only way to prevent knowledge-violence is to intellectually disarm the people.
