^Truer words have never been in a meme. That panel is cable operated and was in my old Tundra. It never failed. My newer Tundra has servos for temp blend doors and air distribution and has failed. It costs thousands to repair.
I don't recall good2go suggesting that we all go back to Ford model As.
The F-35 ($90 million per aircraft) has been cited by the GAO and the Pentagon as an over-bloated nightmare, vexed by reliability, maintainability, and availability issues. Its operational availability is 51%, and its "operational suitability remains below service expectations and requirements" according to the DOD's Operational Test and Evaluation Command (source)
Compare to the F-15 ($43m, inflation-adjusted) and F-16 ($29m, inflation-adjusted), both of which have vastly superior operational records, despite using mechanical ***** and gauges, and tell me which one is the better airplane.
When it comes to automobile climate controls, ***** connected via cables directly to valves and shutters > computers commanding servo-motors via CANBUS, for all practical purposes.
If we're posting pictures of planes, I just passed my test for my multi-engine rating in this thing this evening. Took way longer than I wanted, but it's done, and hopefully full speed ahead on getting my IFR done.
Parenthetically, outside of a training environment, almost nobody wants light piston twins like this Piper PA30. They cost a fortune to operate, a failed engine will still have a higher likelihood than you'd like of ending up in a crash, and with two engines you're now twice as likely to have one fail. Lots of singles are faster, too. But you've got six levers to play with for power changes, so there's that! I have to admit, I do feel like more of a pilot flying one than a high wing Cessna.

Yeah, a F35 was a bit overkill. But I could show a Cesna cockpit and argue the same point. Technology isn't bad! Its like the old school hot rodders who won't embrace an electric commuter because their 440 big block they raced around with 55 years ago made better noise. It's a bit apples to Durian (I googled exotic fruit, which supposedly is similar to pulled pork).
I don't think anyone here would argue against technology, just it's use unnecessarily. Why make something more complicated than it needs to be just to say you can?
Durian smells like ***. I've been told it tastes great but I could never get past the smell. Singapore has a restriction on having it on public transportation, if that tells you anything. So nothing like pulled pork.
