The Sakura Color Products Corporation would tend to disagree.

During the 19th century, this is what native Americans used to re-wind the spools their wire-recorders:

From a fireman's perspective, what do you think of devices like this as a tool?

Its cool concept but i would be surprised to see something like that take off. It serves a very specific couple roles that dont happen all that often. On our trucks we already have a nozzle that we can stuff through a roof of a building, deck gun for lots of flow and tons of hose that could be deployed on scene much faster than the setup of that truck. About the only time i would see that being useful is for tech rescue or really big commercial fires that already have multiple trucks with hose lines into the building and deck guns flowing. Most all the stuff we actually do (in my zone anyways) is medical calls and car accidents that are a little more technical medical call so our trucks are set up in a way to preform those tasks.

So it is a very narrow purpose device and most fire apparatusessesses are swiss army knives? Makes perfect sense.

Reminds me of a device that you often see fitted to the boom on airport fire rigs:

That pointy bit at the extreme upper-left is a hull-piercing boom. The idea is that if you have a fire inside an aircraft, you roll up alongside the plane, jam that thing right through the side of it, and you can then spray water or foam directly into the interior of the airplane from outside.

I chuckle at the fact that at least one manufacturer refers to it as a Snozzle.

Because we all recognize that the process of making bread the old-fashioned way is not sufficiently complex and inefficient:

It doesn't wrap it for you? You just grab it with your bare hands and carry it home in a dirty sack?

Correct.

That makes the experience more authentic. (Also, the platform upon which the bread rests while you retrieve it is in no way protected from other people's bare hands.)
