The new civic looks like crap. I'd get a Sentra SE-R Spec V over an Si.

Gaining torque with an increase in displacement is inevitable.

If they had used the same head as the K20Z they would have made at least as much power in addition to more torque.
Id trade 5 ft/lbs for 20 hp any day.

Kinda looks like the built a 2.4L BP

Personally I think all civics look like crap.. ESPECIALLY the post 2004ish series..

If anyone ever orders something from me and it seems to take some extra time getting to you, don't blame me...blame it on my shipping department. They seem lazy some times, complain when there is no food, cry..a lot, and have trouble moving the boxes. But you can't touch these damn union workers...

Give me the new one over the old any day. Who gives a **** about 17hp between 7200 and 8200rpm when you can gain 20tq in the usable rpm range.

People that understand that more RPMs mean you can run shorter gears and be faster...
Give than both engines had well optimized gearing, the K20 will be faster. Thats the whole point. They added displacement without adding any actual performance.
You say "usable RPM range", which I guess is true of you cant drive and shift 1500 rpm before redline. These cars have 6 speed transmissions, there is no reason why you would ever be much below ~6k rpm if youre driving it right.

People have been putting K20 heads on CRV K24 heads for years now. They usually dont make much more power than a K20, but get some more torque down low. Honda decided it was more important to make an extra 5 ft/lbs then it was to make the extra 20-30 hp that it should be making. The head has the exh manifold cast into it and the cams seem to have come from a Mazda or something.
They've completely forgotten their roots.
