aforementioned sensor. note the flappers in the fan shroud. lets air flow through when the fan is off, suck shut when the fan is on. no springs or motors.

I've always wondered about that. Around where I live your more likely to hit a possum, raccoon or deer. I hit a big raccoon @ ~35mph the other day and the impact was more then I expected. I felt bad a turned around to put it out of its misery but it was gone. I would not want to hit one on a bike.

 

I think I made comparison to it being roughly like someone's 15 year old daughter. Too pristine to violate.
