I think you're confused, turbos are good for high end power but they are laggy and have no low end torque.

Also, the throttle response is so poor that turbo cars are typically slower on the track than an N/A car with half of the max HP, and anyone less skilled than Juan Manuel Fangio will inevitably kill himself when his car swaps ends due to an unexpected delivery of power at the wrong moment.
