Default Corky is smart!

I think that the previously thought of super-douche R1600turbo is actually a mole. Corky has some dirt on this guy or is paying him a mint to actively try and hurt FM sales and talk **** about FM products. Nice move Corky!!!

Since he was crushed a few weeks ago at m.net, he's been mostly absent there... but has re-applied himself vigorously at cr.net. Here he is talking **** about FM products and asking other posters is they know of a better product he can buy: http://www.clubroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17021

In one single thread, he talks **** about FM, he embarrasses himself by assuming that people know who he is, and emphasises pointing out that he works for FM. He also assumes people know what his setup is, although he has nothing written in his sig. He shows he doesn't know how to use google, and he's bought into the myth that turbo-blankets help spool (even if you believe it, does a 2554r really need to spool faster?).

Anyways, I really don't like that guy. I don't know how he's still allowed to represent the company online.

yeah for someone who works at FM, he knows little to nothing about miatas...i guess he has to fit into cr.net and act like 100% of the members there.

Interesting.

I saw that post last night (about the turbo blankets) and wanted to call him out on it. Dude, if you work at FM, I think they would have a heart attack if they caught you saying on a public forum saying you don't care for one of their products (the heat shields). If you work at FM, make some you DO like and start selling them.

I would hate to think this was proposed by Corky himself, but something surely isn't right with this R1600turbo guy.

EDIT: Called him out. Let's see how interesting this gets.

Im still wondering why someone who supposedly works for FM would go to CR for Turbo advice. I would atleast give him a little credit if he came here.

From what I saw in the M.net thread where he had his *** handed to him. He only works at FM part time. Kieth has said he in no way speaks for FM. If he is acting like he does then it's only more proof of his douchebagery.

I do know how google works.

from the FM staff page:
Quote:
Jason kills Miatas. He's our salvage doctor, salvaging the organs of injured Miatas so that others may lead happy lives.

Eww. Watch where you park.

Jason has a 1990 Miata and big plans.

Thanks to a friend for bringing this to my attention. Folks, if you have problems with FM employees, let us know.

Everyone at FM has their own opinions - there's no party line that needs to be followed. We hire Miata enthusiasts. Okay, so R1600 doesn't care for the design of our heatshield for some reason. I don't exactly agree with him there, but he's entitled to his opinion. If we all loved every product we sold, nothing at FM would ever evolve. For example, I didn't like the KYB AGX that much, so I pushed for us to move to the Illumina. I'll ask R1600 why he doesn't like the heatshield, and if it's a legitimate beef then maybe it'll lead to some changes.

Would you prefer we muzzle our employees? On the CR thread, he's looking for alternatives for his own car. Fair enough. He's not representing FM, he's a Miata enthusiast that happens to work here. Does this mean he should never go on the forums? I have learned that simply working at FM is enough to offend some people.

Im not saying he shouldnt go on the forums. I am saying that if you need Turbo advice and you work for a company like Flyin Miata, Begi, Greddy or any turbo company you have the best resources right there. If i was a maintenance man at Volk and i had questions about a wheel I would go to them not a forum, especially one that everyone knows dosent have much info in that subject to begin with. Just my .02

I was watching an episode of the west wing the other day and the president's daughter gave a quote to the press and the president was fired up because she's strictly forbidden (I believe it is even against the law for a reporter to ask) from speaking with the press.

Part of the reason is because it could be interpreted as an implied gov't policy if she says "my dad does (blank)".

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with him going to any forum but when he throws his FM weight around like he did in that one thread on miata.net and starts saying one shop is better than another and getting defensive (in a bad personal way), it makes me wonder if FM has policies for professional courtesy or employee behavior. Like I said in that thread it's not only a conflict of interests (since he's not listed as a sponsor) but he has to be aware that as soon as he says he's with FM, he DOES represent FM. For better or worse.

it's like how I slow down for unmarked cop cars because even though they dont advertise that they're with the police, they still give tickets.

Understood. I told him to identify himself as being from FM as soon as he joined us, because otherwise he'd get marked as a shill. By saying he's from FM, people will automatically assume (correctly or not) that he has some sort of bias, thus the disclosure. But it goes both ways - now he's not expected to have any opinions outside the company line. In other words, by coming to work for FM he's no longer really a member of the Miata community. That's tough to deal with. He owned a Miata before he came to work here.

The cops in the unmarked car are on duty. What about hanging around with people who happen to work for the police? Off-duty cops can be a lot of fun, and not everything they say carries the weight of law.

Just remember that FM is staffed by people. People who happen to enjoy Miatas. And give us a little bit of leeway to be people instead of perfect automated marketing machines. R1600's quote that got everyone wound up was "I'm not really fond of the heat shield that we sell with our kits". That's hardly a condemnation, merely an opinion. And yes, I'll find out why he doesn't like the heatshield (is it the particular design, or just the concept of a fabricated stainless heatshield instead of a turbo blanket?) and that will be taken into consideration.

Keith, I'm going to have to agree with you here. But I'd love to see what you can add to this topic

he's no longer a member of the miata community is pretty much accurate. He can't say something like "BEGi makes a superior downpipe than Flyin Miata--you should buy theirs" whereas a non-affliated person can say it. he bought into the company and has to believe you guys make good products or he doesn't belong there. Same with anyone at any company.

And off duty cops come to DC every year for police week and proceed to trash the city and break tons of laws. Check it out:
http://www.policeone.com/news/1245866/

anyway, way to get that post count up. you guys sell turbos and this is the turbo forum for gods sake!

Keith, welcome to the forum... I'm stoked you're here!!! I love the Locost and can't wait until my baby is born so I can start building one just like yours. I figure with the baby occupying most of her time, she won't have the energy or desire to fight me on it anymore.

Back to your boy.
In this exact case, he could have simply asked "Does anybody know where I can find a turbo-blanket for a T25"... just like any other enthusiast on any other forum anywhere. Somebody smart would have gone to Google and did a .0056 second search, and discovered that T25 turbo blankets are not very common because they already spool quick and the underhood heat they generate is usually quite controllable with a decently designed heat-shield... or he could just have asked you Keith!

Your employees are a direct reflection on your company. Anything and everything he says comes from the mouth of an FM employee. How many of your other "enthusiast" employees go online to Miata forums and discuss their dislikes of your products and they'd really rather own something else? Let me guess.... he's the only one?

He does not represent your company well. You can put any spin on it you want. In the end, he makes you look bad. This is reality.

And as for the muzzle comment, it really won't affect this forum at all. His reputation is made at m.net and here... cr.net is really all he has left.

Keith, employees either contribute to the success of a company or they don't. If you believe he contributes to the overall success and reputation of FlyinMiata, then there should be no reason to ever have to say anything to him about his conduct in the forums. Yet here we are... your call on the muzzle.

And seriously, glad to have you here... lookin' forward to you being a part of this forum! I'm almost ready for a Butterfly Brace!

Keith, WTF, member since 2006 and 4 posts...common man, this is "the" Turbo Forum...i am sure you can contribute a lot of knowledge to all of the members here (who are also members elsewhere...) i am a little surprised that you have not posted much (well, any)
i hope you quit holding out on us and contribute your $.02 more often, im sure your opinion will be helpfull to many and appreciated by all...
in return, im sure you will get a lot of feedback from us on what we think your kits need improvement on...if you think your employees opinion is valuable to improve on your product, then you surely think the consumers opinion is worthy as well....well, we are here, just ask and im sure you'll get some valuable responses
cheers
dan

With all the bashing FM and Keith get on this forum I don't blame him for not wanting to hang out here.
