Yeah motul is expensive but in my opinion one of the best you can get. the oem 75w90 with LSD addative will do almost as good of a job and i think its around 12$ a quart if memory serves me right. 80-90 will also do well in an STi system.

Out of curiosity, what might one expect to pay to have a 5MT opened up and refreshed? Assuming it just needs seals and synchros and not a full suite of bearings and ****.

EO2K which subaru is it out of. The synchros are all different prices and usually once they are split open you find something wrong. The parts arn't the expensive parts its all the labor to do it. I did a 6mt cable shift 6 speed from a 5th gen LGT which is essentially a 5 speed speed with an extra gear shoved in the tail housing. I think between parts and labor it was around 1100 out the door. I had to replace the reverse gear.

If you can swing it, the 11+ front looks a bit better.

With this talk about oils, I was considering using AMSoil in the trans/diff of the FRS in the future. (eventually, as there is really nothing wrong with it now). Has Motul been the go-to for yoda/urberuh as well?

Motul has been my go to for about 18 months now if you were asking me. I've switched all my cars over to Motul or OEM subaru fluids. My non-subarus get strictly motul. But as I said earlier I get it at under market value because I buy in bulk and have a local distributor I do a lot of business with. So it is easy access to it and I can drive 30 minutes and pick up whatever I need.

Ok, so I got OEM.
It was 58 OTD for trans fluid, diff fluid, and new OEM crush washers.
I haz employee discount at local subaru cause I tuned all the employees cars lolz.

I might get Motul later, but honestly the trans feels great, no issues at all, and this is just a routine maint since I don't know if the previous guy did it or not.

As for the bumper, I still have to find one but I'm kinda leaning towards the 11+ too

04 WRX. Its just a little crunchy, Subaru HPGO helped a bit but nothing is going to heal something like that. Also assume I'd be dropping the trans off somewhere. **** paying someone 60hrs of labor to pull a trans, my time is worthless.

$1100 is "I'll live with it" money, $300-$400 is "maybe I'll drop the trans somewhere while its out and I'm replacing the clutch" money.

18psi trans and diff fluid should both be the same. I'm sure you already know but the rear diff fill and drain plugs may fight you and I'm pretty sure that GR chassis still had the diff temp sensor in the fill plug so just be careful taking that out. That's pretty good though! PM with these cars makes or breaks them.

EO2K that particular 5MT is super easy to do and requires no specialty tools. You can probably tackle the job at home depending on how comfortable you are taking it apart. I used to buy those with blown 2nd and 3rd gears for junkyards and refresh them over the weekends to sell them. There are write-ups I think on nasioc and in the haynes manual on how to rebuild those trannys because that trans was used by subaru for so long.

Humm... I'll look. The Urabus is my DD so I tend not to do things like this myself, because I like them to work the first time

Yeah if you can't find anything if its not making noise or shifting really crunchy just run it. Change the fluid every 60k. Those trans you can find on subaru parts pages for 150-200$ depending on milage. To do all that parts are around 200 and book time labor rate is 6.5 hours according to STIS (subaru technical information system).

STi always had an LSD but you also have a DCCD trans which takes the LSD gear oil also according to the repair guides I can access with my subaru login.

Yeah that's what I meant: front diff is 1 with trans, same oil. Rear is LSD.

Correct. front diff, center diff and trans all share the same fluid in any manual subaru trans.

Picked up a set of Outback wheels for our Leggy. 225/65/17

Potholes? What potholes? Now I can focus on more important things like road rage

Hey 18psi, being you put hands on a lot of modified subarus I have a question for you. I'm doing a rotated turbo build on my LGT sedan, any rotated kits that stand out to you as better than others? I have to cut and weld anyways because well 4th gen but Id rather start with a kit than nothing. 08-14 wrx or sti kits should give me the least trouble.

I haven't done too many rotated setups. Maybe a dozen or so. I usually just recommend bolt on turbos unless people have really deep pockets or know what they're doing.

I like KillerB and Full Race. Different approaches, both using legit materials and proper engineering.
I DON'T like perrin. Last rotated sti I tuned had a perrin setup and I thought it was garbage.

Gotcha. Leggys just have big problems with space issues because they stuffed everything in the world in that back corner where a larger turbo would live. Ill look into those kits and see what the deal is. I want this car to be put together completely properly as she is my baby.

Are you looking for big power? I made an easy 400 on a blouch 440xt on corn, and that thing would drop right in for you. Trapped 122 consistently too, so it's not a moon dyno 400.
With a built engine I'm sure it would make 450, and your engine bay would look basically stock, lol.
