I don't think you can even get too much caster, the adjustment is pretty narrow on these cars. I honestly don't even remember being able to change it at all. I could only change camber (barely) and toe.

18psi 11-22-2017 07:37 PM

yeah it's nothing like a miata

MartinezA92 11-24-2017 05:45 PM

black friday discounts got me impulse buying shit. but i have no interest in buying coilovers for this car and my shocks are blown so I don't feel too bad.
Feal Fixed Perch Struts, 05-07 Subaru WRX STI - Feal Suspension

EO2K 11-24-2017 05:53 PM

Oh man, did you get the 1" lift option? :D

MartinezA92 11-24-2017 10:05 PM

hell yea, rally bro
(not actually)
it does get rid of the infamous GD sti strut clunk which makes me very happy.

EO2K 11-25-2017 12:26 AM

It's amazing what small changes can do to a car. I had the new tires mounted today (no alignment yet) and the change has been fairly dramatic.

Gotta find me some dealz on urabus gaskets and such, I've got some maintenance needs doing.

MartinezA92 11-25-2017 09:31 PM

Unrelated, I would kill for a killerb holy header. Someday when my pockets are heavier.

18psi 11-25-2017 09:43 PM

I love mine. Tell you what, in a long time from now (so like 6mo-1year) I'll sell you mine when I change cars. again :D

BTW re-tuned that 13 sti sedan I posted pic of. Plot incoming. It's a bad bad gurrlllll. He's around your parts too

*fights urge to build 450whp sti*
Also I'll Def buy that header from you lol

18psi 11-27-2017 12:06 PM

lol me too. it doesn't help that I have all these parts sitting here tempting me either.

that car is fully built with a closed deck block, cams, the whole 9 yards. we were going to turn it up more but the Dom 1.5 is basically out of breath up top, so it would have been all torque gains from here, and he really doesn't need more torque.

also we set up and tested launch control and flat shift on it, felt nuts

MartinezA92 11-27-2017 07:09 PM

I completely forgot to ask you about launch control when you tuned my car until I was almost 2 hours home. Might see if I can borrow a tactrix and see what I can do (no idea if this is even possible?) EDIT: this isn't as easy as I expected it to be

I folded and switched my order to Feal's 441 coilovers. Pretty hype.

18psi 11-27-2017 07:37 PM

Yeah there's a guy that makes the patch It's $35 or $50 if you want FFS too and kinda a pain to patch in.

MartinezA92 11-27-2017 07:39 PM

zzzzzzz fuck it
Btw, do you still have the file from my car? Figured I should have it on my computer for if I have to go back to stock for smog for whatever reason.

18psi 11-27-2017 07:43 PM

Yes, I'll email it to ya. You shouldn't need to switch for smog either ;)

IR an Idiot. I knew that others had done this, but just rushed my way right there.

Went to change oil for first time in new Outback. Drained out about a pint of CVT fluid.

Subaru dealer says to have it towed in. I'm waiting on advice from my local mechanic. I don't want to top it off myself as warranty etc.

Any thoughts or experiences?

The CVTs need to be filled when they are in a certain temperature range or you risk over or under filling. I had a car come into my bay about a month ago with the chain laying in the pan because of improper fluid level. While that is an uncommon event running these cvts with improper fluid level is bad and since subaru no longer allows us to open them up I R & R a lot of CVTs these days. for refrence I am a subaru dealership mechanic so i get to play with all the super broken cars under warranty.

SO do you agree that I should transport it to the dealer?

Will Subaru Roadside pay for the “tow”?

Will Subaru honor warranty if my local mechanic does the work, rather Rhys dealer?

18psi 12-02-2017 01:16 PM

Yeah, I wouldn’t take any chances and tow it in. They’re 100% going to deny any future cvt warranty work if you don't, since I’m sure they documented this.

DNMakinson 12-02-2017 01:27 PM

Seems the safe thing. 2 other stupid things accomplished today that could have been avoided by going slower and thinking first. Not my day at all.
