Glad to see I'm not the only one hating Subaru ABS in the snow:

reminds me of the people that went out of their way to defeat the hill assist and just deal with the brake light being on all the time.

meanwhile, if there's ever an incline i dont want to use hill assist, I just lift the ebrake up (1) notch.

I have no idea what the fuss is about with the hill assist. Before getting my GR I would hear people crying about it like it ruins your life and make the car undrivable. Never even noticed it once.

I hated it at first but learned to love it once I knew it was going to happen

it was odd at first, every now and again it will make for an odd launch on a hill, but otherwise it's seamless.

where it fucked me once was on a hill in stop and go. i was stuck in bad traffic for about an hour getting into a parking lot to see the Redskins lose, and it was engaging hill assist. We were only moving inches at a time and my clutch started overheating to the point i was barely able to drive the car once i got out of the traffic. it was hopping and chattering bad.

it disables if the e-brake is on. so if you just raise the handle 1 click--where it's not actually applying brakes--it will disable the feature. Nice to know in these situations.

that and it doesn't engage if you're not on the clutch pedal, so you can factor that in too.

Neat! Used deal? Not quite as shiny as the pics on the site. You should sell it to me when you get tired of it

Yeah. I had one, brand new, sold it cause I was gonna get a killerB, then killerB raised their prices even more (due to a billet elbow into the secondary) so I said screw that, I am not paying $1600 for a header, and this one popped up locally so I got it.

My prev one

This thing is a tank. Same thickness as the absurdflow bits, made from some 316 with extra nickel or something.

And now I'm back to wasting time wondering if I should run it as is or get an up pipe to go with it. Again. For the 3rd time.

LOLLLLLL

This car has terrible light output from the stock headlights so I did a projector and HID retrofit. While I was at it, I switched all front and back bulbs to LED. Significant difference IMO.

subaru special tool # 499977100

my version

i used hammered tubing to give it a nice rustic, country feel

worked great

im pretty sure my timing belt is the stock subaru belt. nothing seems to have been touched before, loctite on a lot of the bolts, etc. the belt teeth and rubber are in great condition although the belts seems to be very stretched. the tensioner looks maxed, and the belt is a little looser than i think it should be. 98k

I jammed a prybar into the flywheel when I had to do that. This was on a 2.2 non turbo. It had an access hole for it any everything.

the first thing i did was put it in 5th, ebrake on, wheels chocked, and tried to break it loose. i hate doing it that way as the drive line acts like one big spring, you have to preload the **** out of it, until bang! it wouldnt bang for me. the thing was fuking tight, it took all my body weight on a 3ft breaker bar. maybe if i had a decent impact gun and wanted to break open the A/C system to remove the condenser core that is in the way of said impact gun. i made the tool in about 45 minutes for free.

and now anyone of you can borrow it if need be.

nice

pro tip: you can sneak a impact gun in there depending on which gun you have, and if you use a really short socket, and only if you put the socket onto the bolt and then put the gun to the socket. it literally sits against the condenser so you gotta be really really careful unless you like refrigerant in your face, but can be done
