What's needed for a full STI drivetrain swap, besides the STI drivetrain?

depends on which year.
get the pre-05 and pretty much that's it.
post 05 you gotta wire up the dccd or get a controller, uprights, etc

most places that sell those tend to sell everything tho: trans/diffs/axles/shaft/uprights/brakes/etc

2004 DCCD is different than 05+?

Uprights? hmm. Just wondering.

My 04 sti most certainly did have DCCD.

It made a significant difference in how the car handled, from 50/50 to whatever full rear bias was. It was very fun.

No radio or floor mats though.

crap, my bad. pre-04
the "JDM yo" ones
all USDM sti's had it

*edit: and I must say, if you're planning to make big power, DO NOT get one. they have "miata gearing" it blows

Yes, that was the main reason I sold my sti (well, besides the insurance payments)...constant shifting and hitting the rev limiter. Isn't that why on some years, the WRX is faster in a drag race than the same year's sti? SOme here like to shift often, I don't.

I'd rather have the 6th be an extra overdrive.

Yep, the GR/GV wrx's are faster stock vs stock in the quarter

The 07+ sti's got much better gearing in 3+ though

And in order to use the 07+ sti trans in a 5mt OBXT you also need uprights/suspension components? hubs? calipers? Why?!!??!! I just want to remove 5mt, install 6mt, aftermarket DCCD brain, make more MPGs./

unless you do like 99% hwy cruising in top gear, that would be a giant waste of time and money

you know how to get good mileage in a subaru?

sell it and get a car that's fuel efficient

I do 99% highway cruising. There's 1 traffic light on my way to work (across central NJ BTW), and that's at the entrance to my work's parking lot...can't avoid it.

But more importantly, if I keep this car I want to make more power than the 5mt can handle, in which case I don't care that much about fuel economy. It'll still do similar/better than a tahoe.

For my car, I'd need everything required to do an auto to manual conversion. So pedals, hydraulics, shifter, center console, and a different computer. Plus the STI parts.

No, you email dave and order the bearing cages to make hybrid axles, puts the inner sti CV on the wrx axle.

Maybe. I'm consuming 1 quart of oil every ~1000 miles. I'll probably sell it and buy a benz instead of building it.

welp
that Apex ECV came in and I installed it
went on just fine no issues at all
it cuts down a SURPRISINGLY small amount of noise tho
like, maybe 15%

Kinda expected dramatic results, and it just barely takes the edge off. Not silent/loud like in the videos
Didn't drive with it much tho so I guess we'll see

Keep subaru buy benz. That's what I did. Actually I bought my benz when the subaru engine got a case of rod knock. Then fixed the subaru.

Also I ordered a used replacement diff for my outback, should be here in a week or so. Plan is to clean it, new axle seals, install it, fresh oil, and done. Anything I'm missing? It seems straight forward enough.

are you doing this exercise because you hate your exhaust or because you don't want to get pulled over in soviet CA?

The #1 reason for it is so that I don't wake my son in the morning when I start the car in garage. The #2 reason is the deep strong rumble/pressure waves at super low rpm.

It didn't do hardly anything for the cold start.. It did help a bit with the low rpm pressure.

My car sounds amazing at WOT. I really like the exhaust. That's why I didn't change the exhaust but decided to try this.

Still not sure how I feel about it. Might try to return it cause I just don't feel like it's helping all that much.
