Not the most glamorous shot but here she is at the smog shop! Valves are a bit noisy but I'm gonna let it break in a bit and see if they don't quiet down.

I need to gather all the receipts and see what this "free" car has actually cost me

on the plus side, once completely sorted, you should be good for at least another 100k miles or so

Oil drain plug and filter that both can drain in to the same pan! Without getting oil all over everything! How nice it is to have a motor in its intended orientation in the car

Also trunk space is nice!

I need to figure out how to help him keep on task. He's acquired the Exocet and the Subaru since we started the "other" project.

and it had 60K miles before me with 3 owners and had been modded--came with a gospeed ebc and whiteline sways and pretty bald tires.

At one point had hella duals and a FMIC. who knows what abuse it's gone through.

Let me know when you find one and we'll see if it matches up to my 04. I need to do mine as well

Seriously, WTF is wrong with Subaru people? WHY are the clutches so ridiculously expensive?

I just thought of something.
I'm a smog tech and this year (as of March I believe) were switching over to a new system where cars 2000 and newer don't run the dyno anymore, just a quick OBD2 check and all the monitors have to pass. The sniffer is eliminated from the test completely. This makes it even easier for modded Subys/or really any OBD2 car to pass. It's not hard to keep the CEL from going off if you're running no cats, etc.

since ive been driving, OBD2 cars have never gone on the rollers here in AZ. they always just get plugged in for "OBD2 readiness" and get an evap vacuum test.

Thats honestly how it should have been from OBD2's inception. I have not once seen a car that fails smog but doesn't set off the CEL. The system obviously works how its intended to. I've seen cars with P0420s (catalyst inefficiency) that still pass the sniffer.

martinez is in CA guys, calm down.

It's simple OBD2 and visual AFAIK. I went through it last month and they tried to fail me for having a sealed catchcan (moroso mini) on the PCV line. /sigh
