jeez. i pay less than that for both my cars.

EO2K 01-26-2015 01:22 PM

The Heacock site just quoted me $732/yr for everything:

73 F250 - $3500 value (lol) 1,000mi/yr
00 Miata - $20k value, 3,000mi/yr (listed as "Highly Modified")
04 WRX - $8k value, 6,000mi/yr

I like these people, I may have to follow up on this. I bet the price doubles when they see I live in CA. :jerkit:

Inner city, 2 accidents and 1 speeding ticket (within the last 3 years or however the weird mass policy does this shit), Massachusetts, under 26, not married.

EO2K 01-26-2015 01:31 PM

Over 30, no points, no tickets, basically perfect record. I've had 2 speeding tickets in my lifetime and the most recent one was literally over a decade ago. I'm so tired of getting screwd by insurance companies.

skidude 01-26-2015 01:46 PM

I always heard Massachussets was awful for insurance, so it was more expensive there. I pay something like $1100 for two cars and a motorcycle.

If your truck is lifted more than 4 inches they won't insure it, just found that out.

My shit's bone stock, other than a couple items under the hood. Its 2WD NP435, D60 rear with a 4.56:1 open diff. Camper Special, baby! GVW is like 12,000lbs or something equally insane. 1st gear is completely worthless :giggle:

Jealous. I know the first gear statement. 0-4 miles an hour lol.

Lol I got to drive my uncles 2015 cummins ram the other weekend. I loled at being told to not even bother using 1st gear and then promptly stalled it trying to start out in 4th because sloppy truck shifter.

Close your eyes and guess, best way to shift a truck. Try an 18 speed semi, thats sloppier than anything you ever want to feel.

Lol I eventually had it figured out and was rev matching downshifts and blowing his mind. You got to give it a whole lot of gas accelerator pedal to get it to rev match, lol.

Were you able to get clutchless downshifts? Thats the part that always escaped me when I spent time learning to drive a semi. Clutchless upshifts are cake but down not so easy. Some of the guys that tried to teach me were amazing though. Clutch to get started in first and then 17 other changes to get to speed without a clutch.

Leafy 01-26-2015 06:46 PM

I didnt even want to attempt, his truck has 260 miles on it when I drove it. Lol.

The time I drove a semi across the lumber yard I never used anything other than reverse and whatever forward gear I could find.

Lol, I wouldn't want to try it on something that new either. I learned on farmyard trucks that had been used by more people than a small town hooker. I spent more time driving a tractor than a semi though.

it's always so comforting to know that even the off topic subaru thread gets derailed

is it even possibru to go full circle?

EO2K 01-26-2015 09:00 PM

I'm sure it is, but we should honestly start a towing/beater truck thread.

Back on topic, the squeaky rear brake on the Subaru is getting to me and I'm contemplating doing the brakes. Becausewhynot. I'm running XP8s on the Miata and street driving them with no issues. I've been caught a couple of times braking aaaaaaaaaalmost too late in the WRX because I'm use to the Miata. (Yes, I know the Subaru is like 1,000lbs heavier than the Miata and I should adjust my braking distance)

Who recommends what for the Subaru? What have you used that didn't make you want to kill yourself?

18psi 01-26-2015 09:04 PM

oem pads. or full ceramic "oem replacement" from your flavorite vatozone or something.
I dunno. I really haven't done lots of brake stuff. just oem stuff including oem brembos.

I'm just busting balls about the trucks topic lol, keep on truckin :)

My bro has some 05 huge cummins ram turbodiesel monstrosity with teh whole Banks catalog thrown at it, makes like 600/1000 and you know what? it bores me to death. I have no idea why. people blow their wads when they see his truck, and I'm like "so lets talk about your miata's" lol

Leafy 01-26-2015 09:09 PM

I've been really happy with the napa golds the PO put on the car. But I have the baller wrx brakes so ymmv.

I just got back from a bit of hooning. I got the last spot in my parking deck. I'm glad the rear doors are cut out for the wheel well or I wouldnt have been able to get out of the car, unless there's a rear hatch release I wasnt seeing from the inside. The rear door just cleared the I beam just enough for me to squeeze out. Otherwise I would have had to duke of hazzard out, then open the hatch and climb in the back and close the window, lol.

I'm blown away by the speed some of those guys get off the line. Its like what a 6500 lb truck? Mine is slow as shit and a total beater, its hard to get working on it because it really needs a good engine rebuild, and until I do that everything else is just putting lipstick on a pig.
