Hood, front bumper, headlights, and radiator support are done. it got pushed back so far it knocked the drive belt clean off the alternator lol. Hood scoop flew off and hit the car behind me -_- Insurance is coming by to look at it right now actually. I don't really think its totaled since STIs are worth so much, but crossing my fingers anyway. None of the front suspension is tweaked or anything, everything structural besides the radiator support seems to be fine. |
My subby retains water. Need to find a drain hole.

I think my driver drain tube is clogged, but I can hear sloshing water after a rain when i brake/accelerate.
once i park it slowly drips down. Probably holds about a gallon of water--no joke. meanwhile, clutch job is done. pretty damn easy job. only two issues, one was we couldn't pop the driver ball joint and then we couldn't separate trans from block. we decided to just unbolt the strut and that alone gave us enough room to pull the axles out. and for the trans it just took lots of wrestling--the dowel came out with the trans, so it was like rusted together. once we put it all back together i just maxed my camber bolts. I can see a huge difference in how the tire sits on the ground now. off the sidewall. clutch feel light and springy compared to last. Looks oem--exedy brand. My replacement kit looks identical. Im unsure why it went from feeling like a mustang clutch to a honda civic. pro tip of the day. we removed the lower passenger stud on the block to put the trans back on. there's too much intereference with it and the turbo outlet to get it back on easy, once we removed that it went on like butter. |

I don't even joke around.
New clutch feels really good. I can't believe how much effort that last one took, the PP diaphragm springs must have been fubared or something. The ball of my foot would always get tired on the way home from work in stop and go. I suspect that I won't have that issue anymore. Also, I was using that Scotty craptail mixture in my trans--I just went to 2 qts of BG synchro shift II and 2 qts of Mobil 1 synth and it feels like a brand new trans. Getting into reverse is what I'm really noticing is easier. That makes two happy owners. Put my summer wheels/tires back on and holy unsprung weight difference. Plus i re-balanced them before install. I must have gotten the balancer calibration off slightly on the previous balance.

I only really used them to undo the DP to trans bracket. Otherwise, you didn't need anything but the standard extension. oh yeah: my DP was like hand tigntened onto the turbo. The gasket wasn't sealed and you could see that soot was exiting there. It was coated in gasket maker too, so it makes me think the PO had a DP on the car at one point as well. I had to spend at least 10min grinding off the gasket off the gasket and actually torqued down my DP bolts. In boost, I've noticed that the rattly noise by my turbo went away. I love used cars. |

that just needs a 4" extension or so, did you seriously get at it all the way from the wheel well? bahahaha subaru trans really is purdy simple to remove though. do your gears still whine as much? |
