I ended up ordering the anchor branded engine mounts. To my surprise after opening, they have subaru molded in on the side as well as the subaru part number. I wonder if they are the OE supplier? Ima order their trans mount also. Too early to call it fixed yet, but the brief test run didnt shake.

So looks like the Exhaust Valve does make a noticeable difference.
Last night I was driving with wife/son in the car and opened it randomly, wife goes "wow the car got so much louder, can you close it, I have a headache from it"
I close it and she goes "that is much better".
so maybe it helps like 20-25% and not 10-15 lulz
It seems to do nothing at idle though, which is a bummer. Normal driving is when it makes the above estimated difference. And anything over 3k rpm and the car basically sounds stock, which is really cool.

Subadoo passed smog. Yay!
Not that I thought it wouldn't, but its nice to know its something I don't have to deal with for another couple years.
Interesting note: I was told by the smog tech that 2000 and newer cars do not require a sniff. There was no probe involved, just an in depth visual, check of the gas cap, hook up to the computer and check for indicators/codes. I don't know if that was specific to this county or the whole state, but it sounds like this was a very recent change to the oppression.

95 and previous get sniffed, and depending on the "tech" they may or may not be inspected to varying degrees.
Diesel tests are scary.

I didn't just 'learn' about OBDII, this is a recent and radical change to the oppression I've dealt with my entire auto owning life here in California. And its a significant one.
Don't make me put on my old man pants and start telling stories about trying to get 80's cars with carburetors, distributors and catalytic converts to pass CA emissions testing. Some of us have been playing this game for quite a while.

Just like I did to the street manners of the BRZ (also thanks to some of the worst roads in the country).
I'm now 88% sure I'm going to take it back to stock, sell off the other parts meant to make it trackworthy and see how things look next year.
I'm finally starting to accept that not being a DINK anymore, I'm not going to get to go to the track very much anymore (maybe a few times a year?), so I'd rather have something quicker/nicier of which I haven't ruined the street manners.
