Default Electric motor wiring question

I have an old three speed house box fan. If I accidentally apply power to TWO of the windings at the same time (momentarily) what would happen? Do I blow something up OR does the fan not run OR does it run normally (maybe at a faster speed than the sum of both speeds)?

I am putting light switches on each winding for a project and there could be a point where I mistakenly switch two speeds on at the same time.

Thanks!

Edit: Or am I wrong. Does a three speed fan run three sets of windings at the same time to achieve max speed? I'll have to get the switch and test it.

Nope, windings are independent of each other. Project was scrapped anyway (still using the stock 4 position switch and one light switch).

Carry on...
