Yeah, I remember seeing that.

Not to worry, IB (the forum owner) has a new update coming which will make us forget all about the fact that the photos are broken.

For reference, the photo I posted above is a parking space with a sign in front of it that says "Reserved For Green Vehicles", and parked in that space is a very large extended-cab pickup truck, which is painted green.

If I ever buy a Lamborghini, I'm going to make sure it's green.

I assume that you expressed your displeasure to the owner of the Mercedes.

404error: problem not found.
Truck is too long to fit in a single spot without sticking out into the isle so he parks away from everyone else and takes up 1.25 spots.

Too long?? It looks like a short-bed to me.

What irks me most about this is that I watched the driver park this car, and he wasn't deliberately being an ****, he was just totally oblivious:

What irks me second-most is that this was a grocery store parking lot, and I didn't have any zip ties with me.

I did, however, have my sharpie marker.

Walked part this earlier:

Putting in this thread not because the owner of the vehicle did a shitty parking job, but someone else *really* did. (For reference, this is a one way street.)

Stuff like this happens in the city. You deal with it.

One of the great joys of driving a beater is that I really don't care if it gets an extra scratch or ding.

Case in point, today I came out of the grocery store to find that a new Kia (temp plates) was parked way across the line, just a few inches from my door.

As luck would have it, after crawling into my car via the passenger door, the driver of the Kia came out to get into his car just as I was backing mine out of the parking space. I took considerable joy in dragging my front bumper all across the whole right side of his car, while maintaining eye contact.

I usually try not to be a dick, but some transgressions are so severe that, when presented with an opportunity to administer instant karma, it would be irresponsible not to.

It's simple: Don't do a shitty job of parking a nice, pretty car next to a car which looks like its owner doesn't care about another scrape or two.

Because I don't. The blue-book value of my car is already negative. Your paint on my front bumper and left-front fender gives me satisfaction.

I don't get why owners of expensive cars park like arseholes - surely they understand that they're just asking for retaliation?

Park so close to my driver-side door that I can't get in and I'm not letting you off lightly either - if I have to climb in through the passenger side I grab the tyre iron from the boot (aka trunk) as I go past, climb across my passenger seat, lower my driver-side window and give the offender's door a couple of whacks with the tyre iron.

If you let them get away with it, they'll never learn!

I wouldn't recommend making this your standard MO. The ability to retaliate is becoming riskier each day depending on where you live. Think about how inexpensive home security and dash cameras have become. There are TONS of cameras around chain businesses and more each day at smaller shops. I've been an USPS letter carrier for nearly 15 years and am shocked at how many cameras have popped up in the last 1-2 years on my ~340 customer's houses. They might not get a clear license plate to track you but if they can get color, make, model and a description of you from video, you might find yourself caught sooner than later if/when somebody gets a plate number.

A few years ago I was walking to my car after work. I watched a guy come out of the liquor store in the nearby plaza and get into his pickup. Just as I was unlocking my car at the top of the lot, I heard a crunch and saw he had backed into a white panel van. He got out and looked at the damage, then looked around and quickly jumped back in to drive off. The van doors were badly dented and inoperable. From 1/2 parking lot away I saw his plate #. Years ago I made a game of memorizing at a glance after working in the roughest part of the city, plus my job requires quick memorization and recall. I called police as I walked over and waited for the van driver to come out of that same liquor store. It looked like a work truck, not his personal truck. If I hadn't reported it, he might have been blamed for backing into something and possibly disciplined or fired. As I got back to my car the officer drove over and thanked me saying they arrived at his residence and found him beside the truck. This couldn't have taken more than 10 minutes of my time. I'm not sure how it turned out but all it takes is one witness... I do however love the idea of writing notes on the window with a permanent marker (still removeable) or zip tying a cart to the door handle. That's just damn inconvenient and harder to prosecute, not worth their time since no real damage is done.

Back on topic...I wish I had a picture but a story will have to do. It's always fun to park close to poor parking jobs and wait IF you are driving a beater and have the time. My mother did this once when I was a child. She parked our rusted out '79 Chevette inches away from the driver door of an '80s RWD boat at a grocery store. Weather was not to blame for their poor parking job. I went in since she couldn't get out but s said an overweight couple came out and demanded that she move. WHY? YOU put yourself in this situation, you get yourself out! She laughed as the guy whined about a bad back and forced the woman to climb through the passenger side and over the center console.
