Ditto that. My dailies are Wrangler p/n 965T1QS (aka 956TPQS), sourced from Target. Blue, regular (non-stretch) fit.

I typically own two set of daily jeans in total at any given time, and swap them once a week on laundry day. I get at least a year out of each one, usually more.

I'll have to try out the wranglers and see how they fit. I'm also on the 2 set of jeans train. Unless i do something nasty in the garage, or get muddy outside they last a week.

wrangler butts drive me nuts.

when you buy your levis (for example), you can check what the material weight is. if you're getting some that are paper thin, try a different color.

If you click on each color, the description tells you if it's "mid weight" or "heavy weight" and some will tell you the fabric weight in oz.

If you're worried about thickness, get at least a 12oz denim.

If you're worried about your *****, get stretch denim.

All this talk about Win10 had me taking a look at my HTPC. Haven't messed with it much recently because we have been watching zero TV.

I discovered that about a week ago it started failing all Windows Update downloads. There's a related error code that could mean all kinds of things, but mostly it's due to some corruption in the wuauserv service. All of the fixes I could find failed, meaning I was probably looking at a Windows reinstall.

That's not the end of the world -- the recorded media is on a separate hard drive, so it wouldn't be too difficult to wipe the OS drive and reinstall. But of course I started thinking about using this as an opportunity to improve.

The HTPC only has 4 GB of RAM because it's a Win7 x86 OS (was my mistake, bought it as a refurb and didn't confirm OS version). Furthermore, it's an OEM license, so it's locked to the 32 bit version, so it won't activate a x64 install.

Now I'm a bit stuck. I was willing to spend $50 on a CPU and memory upgrade to liven things up, but seems kind of pointless if it's hamstrung by a 32 bit OS. I have found some info online indicating that people have successfully gone Win7 x86 (OEM) --> Win10 x86 (in place upgrade) --> Win10 x64 (clean install), but it's not 100% success rate and it seems like most of them had to request reactivation at the Win10 x64 step from MS customer service.

I'd be willing to do that to get to an x64 OS, but that would kill Windows Media Center. So now I'm downloading and setting up MediaPortal to see if I want to drop WMC and use something else.

Blech. I hate MS's stupid license structure. I want to own my license, regardless of how I acquired it, and be able to install, reinstall, transfer, or whatever without having to ask their permission.

I stopped wearing jeans when I learned that craftsman pants exist.
Comfortable, durable, nice fitting, but with ample ******** storage.



I keep a pair of Levi's for the ocassional hipster wedding.

Look too much like work pants to wear at my work. I can wear jeans but wouldn't want to wear those.

I have a pair of fleece lined carharts I use for cold garage days.

I'm a Levi's 569 guy.

The longest lasting jeans I've ever bought were either carhardt or dickies jeans. Can't remember which.

Any kind of alcohol is great for stubborn residue. Isopropyl is safest (fewest contaminants), and it doesn't have to be super pure.

Water does not hurt circuit boards that don't contain electromechanical parts (switches, potentiometers, etc). PCBs are actually really hard to damage unless you expose them to acidic liquids or harsh solvents (eg: I'd never use brake cleaner on one, and things like orange juice are quite harmful as well.)
With a little bit of tap water and some dry time, it appears that I've regained full functionality of my newly cleaned and reassembled remote!

I have been annoyed with how my Mazda3 auto refuses to downshift and frequently sits in 3rd gear at 20mph while turning...and 5th gear at 35mph.

So, I am reading about the many complaints on how slow the 2.0L Skyactiv Mazda3's are.

Then I came across this website...and I'm not sure if the #1 post is serious or not...but it made me lol.

The car sometimes surges during downshifting. I will be driving in moderate traffic in third gear. The traffic slows, and I let in the clutch and apply the brake. When the traffic starts to pick up again, I am going too slow for third, so I shift into second and let the clutch out. My right foot is just resting lightly on the gas pedal. The car has not been idling fast, but as soon as the clutch is engaged, the engine suddenly roars and the car leaps forward, even though I have not pressed the gas at all. I let in the clutch again to avoid an accident. When I let it out again, it works normally. This happens once, twice, or not at all in a 40-mile round trip out of town and back. It also happens frequently when I make a left turn without stopping, but where I need to slow and downshift. I coast into the turn with the clutch pedal in, shift down, and attempt to let the clutch out when coming out of the turn. I would expect the car to slow when I shift down unless I am pressing the accelerator, but something other than me is giving it gas. It is impossible to predict when this will happen, and it never happens twice in a row. I have made it happen on purpose, but I think that was pure luck. It happens when downshifting into any gear, but because of the heavy traffic in our area, it ends up usually being third to second. I really want to try out some of the Duluth Trading Company stuff. I can't find a good review of the "ballroom jeans" but I did find a decent review of their fire hose pants. Seems like good quality and the price isn't too obscene.

It does sound like there's something wrong with that guy's car.

but aside from that, is yours a '12-13, or '14+? The '12-13 cars had a lot less low-end torque, and the trans was tuned to only downshift when you hoof it, so yeah they feel really slow. Gotta bury the throttle to make real progress.

The '14+ are much much better.

Wow. Yes. I have a 2012, and that's exactly how I feel. You have to seriously stomp on the pedal just to get it to downshift to accelerate normally. The car is a ton of fun when it gets over 4krpm, but like you said, you need to bury the throttle to get it there. I used to love this car, but it's gotten so annoying that I want to trade it in for something with more power or just a better tune.

in 2012-2013 there wasn't enough room in the engine bay for the 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, so it's a normal 4-1 design. That's why it runs so good up top, but lacks low-end torque.

2012/13 mani:



2014+ mani:



total power output didn't change from '13 to '14, but the torque curve sure as hell did.

Drive a new 3 before you trade on anything else.

I have a 2014 Mazda 3 Hatch as a daily. Bought it new but it's just the 2.0 base Sport model. It is a 6 speed though and drives and shifts great. Pretty gutless but when I'm averaging about 35MPG combined highway/city, I don't care.
