I think I'm going to Moe's for lunch. You already know that I'm getting the Joey Jr. with a Macadamia cookie and a side of queso. Moe's is the ****!

I still mourn the loss of the trio of cheap restaurants that they used to have on the NW corner of University & W 13th across from the Holiday Inn.

Falafel King
Burrito Brothers
Chinee Takee Outee.

May their memory live in our hearts forever.

(For anybody who lives in NYC, imagine the Kool Bloo in SoHo, only one-fifth the price.)

Is Caribbean Spice still open? That place was just utterly awesome.

Yeah, baby. There she is!

Some of my friends know the kid whos family fucked that up. After years all thats been built is a big church.

Burrito Bros relocated still kicking ***. My buddy Wassem runs the Falafel King on Archer road. I even miss the Starbucks that was there on the corner.

I think so. I've never been, I'll have to check it out! Reggae shack cafe is taking over though.

Observe the paradoxes built up about capitalism. It has been called a system of selfishness (which, in my sense of the term, it is)—yet it is the only system that drew men to unite on a large scale into great countries, and peacefully to cooperate across national boundaries, while all the collectivist, internationalist, One-World systems are splitting the world into Balkanized tribes.

Capitalism has been called a system of greed—yet it is the system that raised the standard of living of its poorest citizens to heights no collectivist system has ever begun to equal, and no tribal gang can conceive of.

Capitalism has been called nationalistic—yet it is the only system that banished ethnicity, and made it possible, in the United States, for men of various, formerly antagonistic nationalities to live together in peace.

Capitalism has been called cruel—yet it brought such hope, progress and general good will that the young people of today, who have not seen it, find it hard to believe.

As to pride, dignity, self-confidence, self-esteem—these are characteristics that mark a man for martyrdom in a tribal society and under any social system except capitalism.

Capitalism has created the highest standard of living ever known on earth. The evidence is incontrovertible. The contrast between West and East Berlin is the latest demonstration, like a laboratory experiment for all to see. Yet those who are loudest in proclaiming their desire to eliminate poverty are loudest in denouncing capitalism. Man’s well-being is not their goal.

Yeah, I do remember the other Falafel King. I think I went there once, after the first one changed to some BS Mediterranean place in '98 or so. It was good, but not exactly convenient if you happen to be on campus around lunchtime.

I have utterly no idea where this Starbucks was. We didn't have any in town when I was there so far as I can recall. There was the bike store (Chain Reaction, IIRC) right on the NW corner facing University, then The Trio, and sort of behind it all was some ghetto apartment building where a friend of mine lived.

Where did Burrito Bros relocate to?

Caribbean Spice is a must. When I was a student, that was one of the principle lunch spots. The whole meal was something like $2.25, for which you got a meat patty, cocoa bread, a hefty piece of carrot cake, and a can of soda out of the fridge. All wrapped up in a brown paper bag, to go. Grab it, pedal back over to that sort of park-like area behind Bryan Hall, chill, unwind.

I went back there a couple of years ago when I happened to be in the neighborhood. Absolutely nothing had changed. Same faded posters on the wall, same hand-painted sign...

Burrito Brothers moved a block over right next to Tim and Terry's.

I like supporting local businesses so I'll definitely be going to Caribbean Spice soon.

Damnit. I'm having trouble deciding wether or not to go ahead and start doing the preparations for the eventual V8 swap, and starts ripping out interior, do the cage, seat and harness, go ahead with suspension v2.5 (already messed with that **** more than I care to, this time I'll do it right) and track down a HT, remove that rattling mess of a soft top and pretty much be fully prepared. Of course this is my full time daily, but seeing as it's already by far the least comfortable daily driver I have ever owned, I don't see how a seat and harness would make it any worse. At least I will rid of some rattles, some weight, and pick up some handling in the process. Decisions, decisions... would also give me an excuse to go ahead and be slow at some track day events at Barber.

That being said, suggestions for a good bolt in cage? Autopower any good?

So I've tried 2 out of the 3 new Mtn Dew flavors...Whiteout and Typhoon. The Typhoon is OK...but the Whiteout is like crack...I love it.

I still miss Mtn Dew MDX...that *ish tasted EXACTLY like Surge.
