The only Vivobarefoot's I have are the Oak, which I believe has been discontinued (though you can still find them frequently on the discount gear sites like The Clymb or Left Lane Sports).

It's my daily work shoe. Just professional enough to pass muster. Way more comfortable than a traditional leather men's shoe.

I'll have to compare them directly tonight, but toebox on the Vivobarefoot's feels narrower than the Lems. It's still wider than a typical shoe, and the leather upper is soft and unstructured enough to allow for a wider foot, but I don't know that it would feel as wide as the Lems.

The fantastic thing about the Lems is that they are so light that you barely have to lace them down -- they can be very loose but still secure because they aren't "hanging" from your foot like a typical shoe.

 

Patagoinia makes some good minimal shoes. Unfortunately the soles wear out fast (or did, not sure if they've improved). Super mega comfy.

 

Cushe also makes pretty good comfortable shoes. Not sure how they compare to Patagonia but mine wear well.

Ugh. The used car market just called my bluff. I've been searching for a work commuter -- something with decent mileage, good cargo room, and excellent reliability. I told myself that it wouldn't matter if it was boring or unstylish as long as it did the job.

Then I got an email asking if I'd be interested in a 1996 Honda Odyssey.

It ought to be almost exactly what I'm looking for. Tall wagon with lots of cargo room, drives like an Accord, acceptable power, mileage isn't great but still way better than the 14/17 I get on the Frontier.

But it's a minivan.

Yeah. The top 2 on my lists would be an Accord wagon or a Protege5 with a manual transmission (and there seem to be more manual P5's than Accords). Just not many of them around here.

 

Odd, it is the complete opposite here. I'm in the market for a P5 right now and they only ones in a 100 mile range are all automatics.

Edit: mis-read your post. Seems the Manuals are rare although more made.

 

Right, manual anything is rare these days, but manual Accord wagons are one in a million. Manual P5's aren't common, but compared to Accord wagons they are.

 

I want a manual 2014 mazda6 diesel wagon. Too bad we don't get them in the states.

 

Just got offered a 1993 Corolla wagon with 115k miles and cold A/C for $3k. It's an automatic but that's okay. If it's in good condition, I think I might try to talk him down to $2500 or so and take it home.

I owned a minivan briefly as a third option to my miata and E30. It carried lots of crap around and lots of friends. It was fun if you never looked at it. I wanted so bad to make it a hot rod lookin van.

Can you get drop springs and phat rimz for it and maybe change it from gold to something else? Are they all gold or what?

I also seem to recall GRM loving the Odyssey as a good cone dodger for a minivan.
