I bought a few used tires from GeneSplicer a few days ago and he shipped them to my office by UPS. They were delivered back at the office today and I am out doing sales calls an hour and a half away. I was notified like this:

I just got a call from the lady at my office.
She said "You just got a big stack of tires delivered here, and... umm... they're gay."
I said, "They're what?"
"They're gay tires."
"They're slicks. They aren't supposed to have any tread on them. Is that what you are referring to?"
"No. The tires are gay. They are wrapped in rainbow colored strapping and have a picture of a half naked guy with a wrench. All of the parts guys and mechanics are laughing about it."
"Awesome!"
"It's awesome that you got gay tires from UPS?'
"Yes ma'am. It's pretty awesome."
"I've got another call. I just wanted you to know."

 

I was. he was bitching about storage space for ****.

there are tons of sites with various content such that storing it is a silly prospect. the very nature of **** lends itself well to illicit copying of content.

I'm a digital hoarder pretty much. It's all very special to me though. Music collection is at almost 20,000 songs, I have a bunch of seasons of a few of my favorite shows, some anime ****, and then a bunch of pronz.

Like Joe said, if you go long enough without watching something, eventually you will get the itch, and it will be just as entertaining as the first time you saw it. Though I do keep **** I don't really need. I have every episode of Star Trek TNG, even though I've seen the entire series through going on my 3rd time now, and I can get it easily on any streaming app on my PS3, in better quality. But I can't bring myself to delete it.

 

I have 500GB of music ill never listen to, only cause I'm too lazy to delete it all.

 

I want you to know that I just spit hot tea out of my nose.



Oh, yea. I missed that. TBH, the idea that people actually hoarded **** on their hard drives didn't seem like a realistic concept. I mean, what is this, usenet?



See, I'm even a little sillier than that.

I have every episode of every show in the entire Star Trek franchise (except DS9, but including Enterprise), including the hi-def remastered versions of the original series.

And every episode of The Simpsons ever aired- all 24 seasons of it, including the Tracey Ullman shorts.

Ditto Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, Top Gear, Oz, Six Feet Under, The Wire, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Homeland, Deadwood, Hell on Wheels, Battlestar Galactica (1978-80 and 2004-2009), all of the James May miniseries and specials, etc etc.

Plus pretty much every arcade and console videogame ever made from the dawn of time until the early 1990s.

 

It's habit. It takes one click and it's saved. Any time I see something worth the second it takes to click save, I do so.

And yeah, your collection is a bit ridiculous. Most of my data is music. I don't care quite as much for TV shows and movies. I can get all of that streaming.

I was laying in bed the other night doing the math on my music collection, and came out to about 2000 albums if you figure the average album has 10 songs. Then I was trying to imagine how big of a stack of jewel cases that would be. Then I also figured out I have enough music to last me roughly a month and a half, listening to songs back to back. And unlike Brainy, I like all of my music. Every song in my collection is there for a reason. I either downloaded the song, the album because of a song on it, or sometimes a whole artists collection, if it's someone I really like.

Oh yeah, and I'm even such a digital hoarder that I have a folder on my desktop, that is where everything goes from my desktop when it gets too full. I have stuff dating back to 4 or 5 computers ago, maybe as far back as 7 or 8 years. It's sometimes fun though to go back and see what you were doing at that time, and remembering some funny ****. If it was ever at one point on my desktop, it is in there. 60GB and 22,000 files.

 

I haven't been back to the office yet. I wouldn't dream of letting all of his hard work not be immortalised here.

It's definitely up there in my book. Top ten at least. Damn shame...

The other thing which I have noticed is that I'll sometimes overhear someone say "Oh, such-and-such is/was a great series" and I'll immediately remote into my media server at home and download the entire series, but then totally forget about it. So I've got hundreds of gigabytes of stuff in there that I've never seen- I just don't spend that much time actually watching television, which is weird given how enormous a media library I have amassed...

The last three K&N oil filters I've used have all failed at the gasket after regular use.

Unless someone is coming in my garage and loosening them. I noticed a trail of oil going up my driveway the other and and when i checked me dipstick I had no readings.

Worried I drained the oil only find I had about 1.5qts out of 4.2. Under the car was a mess and it was clear it was leaking from the oil fitler and it just happened. I had gone 4500 since the last change and was planning to do it soon, but after I filled it up there hasn't been another drop on the ground.

tl;dr: dont buy k&n oil fitlers.

Edit: I even have a music playlist that is inspired by music you might find on the soundtrack to shows like those. Sarah Jarosz, Devil Makes Three, Steeldrivers, Gangstagrass, Keb Mo, Johnny Cash, etc.

 

Well that's no good. I've been using those filters at just about every change since '07 without an issue. Now I'm going to be paranoid.
