EDIT: Nope. I just checked the etymology and gruntled means grumbling and dis- (in this odd case) supposedly means completely, instead of negating gruntled. English is confusing. From middle English gruntelen.

You will pay nearly a 100% markup to purchase pre-boiled and pre-shelled eggs from the grocery store as compared to purchasing raw eggs and doing the work yourself.

As with dentistry, legal defense and auto-body work, this is one of those times when it's totally worth it to hire a pro to do it for you.

 

Which got my engineer brain to thinking, HTF would you ever be able to peel an egg efficiently enough to be able to make a profit at the wholesale prices?

Plus, they have the cooking process down to a science, presumably running on a continuous-flow line, where the egg spends precisely the right amount of time in water which is at exactly the right temperature to produce an egg which is firm and solid, yet not rubbery and without that sulphur taste that comes from over-cooking.

It has recently been suggested to me that my air mattress is not well suited to certain applications, and that I need to buy a "real" mattress.

So she is not that adventurous? That was all I could fit in the back of a 1955 Lloyd, and it worked well. Got a 50 year old kid to prove it.

 

I can honestly say that I have had multiple attractive females compliment me on the M3 either at stop lights (through open car windows) or in or around my office building. I've never had that happen with any other car.

I am never wearing a Hawaiian shirt when this happens.

Any reason you want latex over memory foam?

 

I'm asking for input, not expressing a preference.

I know from experience that I'm not a huge fan of memory-foam mattresses. I don't much like the feeling of sinking into the mattress and having it form a cocoon around me from which there is no escape.

I do use a latex pillow, and while it exhibits the same deformation characteristic, it does not retain this deformation and rebounds instantly when pressure it removed. So I know it will be different from a memory-foam mattress, but I'm not sure it it will be substantially better.

 

Let me throw this out there Joe ...

Up until about 10 years ago, I went through 3 or 4 top name mattresses over a period of about 2 years in a relentless pursuit for a king size that would not either sag into two saddles or make my back feel like I just loaded up a truckload of engine blocks by hand. Side note: I never had this trouble before switching from queen to king size mattresses, and I'm convinced this is a relevant factor.

Anyway, the missus insisted on a king, so after accepting no conventional mattress would satisfy me, and because a decent night sleep without pain is worth it to me, I broke down and bought one of those DUX beds. It was crazy expensive, but I have to say it has been fantastic for me.

So far the only issue was that a few years ago, I had to replace its thin top pad (the equivalent of the 'pillow-top' portion of a conventional mattress) which happens to be separate on these beds. The original one was all cotton, but when they wanted another fortune to replace it, I just went and got one of the 2-1/2" memory foam toppers at Costco and it's worked out just as well. All in all, I'm not sorry I bought it, as it has done so well for me in spite of needing mad skrilla, yo! lol

One good thing about being surrounded by rednecks... free venison. Enjoying some awesome jalapeno summer sausage made with venison, and it's pretty amazing. Also have a freezer full of "snack sticks" which are sort of like thicker links of beef jerky/slim jims, ground venison and some patty sausage of pork and venison mix. Delicious protein.

 

That ring of skin around a popped blister. I can't bite it any closer, and it's driving me crazy. I'm not only a nail biter, but a cuticle and other skin biter. Mmm, flesh.
