So I need to ship a 50 pound box that has the dimensions of 24"x19"x4" from Charleston SC to Il. I need it insured for $100k. Both Fedex and UPS are telling me they can only do declared values up to $50k. Where would I go next to possibly get this box shipped.

I also have one at home- it's my main playout device, and even though I use the 4TB media-server as the primary storage, it does have a 1TB drive in it which never gets used. I could simply take that box with me, I was thinking that there might be something smaller and lighter.
Read this article: What is MHL, and why should you care?
You can purchase insurance from a 3rd party using the package ID number.
You go to UPS or FedEx and have a shipping label printed as usual. Then contact the insurance company with the ID, before the package actually ships, to attach a policy to it. This is how people ship jewelry, rare coins, paintings, etc.
It has the added benefit of not having "Insured" written on the outside of the box. So it does not draw any attention to itself.

I have a pi and it is really not that bad. Just an SD card, load up RaspBMC and upload up the videos on the XD card.
I want something that I can purchase locally and have running within, say, the next three days. I am perfectly happy to pay money to have some one else assemble it, write the code for me, etc.
Nah, the WD box I have now is perfect. I want something like it that I can take with me to another location, and preferably something smaller than it.
For now, I suppose I can just take the WD box with me.
Very interesting... I was not aware that such a thing existed.
My phone clearly supports this, and it seems that my tablet does as well. I'm not sure if the TV at the cabin does, I'll have to look into that the next time we're up there.
Dafuq are you shipping that's worth a hundred grand and fits into a small box?
We have a freight account so I have never had to use a third party; but I am aware of them. Quick Google search shows a few options, I have no idea how reputable they are.

With $100k in your hand, I would hope you have a regular insurance guy you could call. I bet they could recommend something to you.
Typically you can buy as much insurance as you want when you ship freight. With your box being so small, I hate to tell you to strap it to a pallet, but it might be your best option.

Huh.
Sounds like the sort of thing I'd either hire a courier for, or use FedEx Custom Critical: Expedited Freight Shipping, Air Freight Solutions with FedEx Custom Critical

Forget the whole "MHL compatible TV" part. Just get the adapter that converts MHL from your phone into good ol fashion hdmi tee vee. There is some debate on the reviews of the devices if an additional adapter is required. I am not sure if it is. But ultimately you just will need an HDMI compatible TV.

I ordered both a cable and an 11-to-5 adapter from Monoprice. Not sure why or if the adapter is needed- they claim you need it to plug into a Galaxy S4, but I know that I used a standard 5 pin cable on mine for charging and data transfer.
Ideally, this will work on my Asus tablet, since it has a lot more storage capacity and I already treat it like a mobile video player. We shall see.

Well, it would be nice to be able to use the TV's remote to control the playout device (this is what having an MHL-compatible TV gets you), but in the end, that's hardly a drop-dead function.

please let me know if it works and if the adapter is required. I've almost bought that monoprice setup a few times. it's sure as F cheaper than the (which was originally like $99 but now is 60)

My guess is it's a hoax though, unfortunately. I would love for some excitement like that.

The moon is just a death star that has sat unused for so long it's gotten dusty.

And I just had to face palm myself for confusing a Star Trek fact with a real world fact. I won't repeat what, but it was embarrassing.

Believe me, I tried to make that happen when the customer was in town last week who actually own the equipment. My suggestion of having one of them carry it back was laughed at from management of my company, all the way up to the big wigs at the customer level.
