If FEMA had the bicycles, would it fund Hustler's manlet bib?

Ordered the TCX Advanced Pro 2 today. 105 and mechanical discs. Same frame and fork as the Ultegra and D/A models but neither of those are available yet and will never be sold in my size. Weird as they sell the exact same frame in my size on the 105 bike. I'll run it with the 105 group this year then swap to the Ultegra/hydraulic disc next year. Really looking forward to discs..

Jelly. I'm going to avoid riding a disc bike for as long as possible.

I ended up with TRP CX9 mini-Vs. Planning to tear the CAAD down this weekend and build up the Kona, then ride that for a couple of weeks while I put the CAAD on a carbon/Italian diet.

Got to ride Valmont bike park this weekend. Pretty awesome how big and well maintained everything was.

Even you CX dorks would love it (I think they ran CX nationals there last year?)

Getting good stopping power out of aluminum rims isn't that hard they just don't modulate like discs. The problem is when you have carbon rims. It is really difficult to get any kind of braking power or modulation with carbon rims and rim brakes.

but yeah don't ride a modern lightweight carbon bike with disc brakes it'll ruin you

That is why I have stayed with Al braking surfaces. The latest gen of Campy pads have nearly zero reduction on braking when wet. I have a friend with carbon surfaces who will not ride in the mountains if it might rain, because he has no stopping power.

1. Those TCX bikes are awesome, I'd love to have through-axles on mine. I bet you end up with a set of TRP cable-pull hydros, the mechanical disc brakes were basically dangerous and I switched immediately.
2. The braking performance, including modulation, on my Rail 34s with Black Prince pads is pretty damn good. I'd say its 95% as good as my Al wheels with Shimano pads. In the wet, I ride the CX bike or put on Al wheels.

The TRP Sypre mech discs on the bike ship with organic pads that are supposed to be very good in the dry, meh in the wet. I'll switch to Swisstop semi-metallic pads.

FWIW, the entire 105 2x11s/mech disc groupset will be for sale in February after cross season is over.

Sadness. My contact at Giant just informed me that they are sold out until Spring 2015 on the TCX. Called every dealer in the county, zip. Looking like no TCX for me.

I just had the same discussion with a guy who works for a shop that sells Giant. The only thing he can get is Focus, for himself. It seems CX has totally exploded the market. What about the BMC CX bike? I heard you can get that and it's also a sex panther.
