If FEMA had the bicycles, would it fund Hustler's manlet bib?

I'm happy with my 520 except for the frequent auto firmware updates before a ride. I typically turn on my garmin when I'm ready for a ride (cause it auto shuts off otherwise), and 'ok' is the default firmware update selection. So if you aren't paying attention, you're out a good 10 minutes as it updates and resets. If I only nave 60 min to ride, that annoys me.
I've never used a 510 so can't comment on that, but I do use the 'differences' between the 510 and 520.
-I prefer not touch screen
-color is nice, especially when using the map in the woods, trying to find the right trail back to the parking lot.
-The uconnect apps are cool gimmics.
-strava segments mean I get more KOM's which make me feel gooder
-I use it to control my trainer from time to time

How poor of a decision is it to do a 50-mile race on a HT 29er over a course that I can do a lap on with my CX bike with moderate extreme care? I want to try some XC racing but don't really have the right equipment.

There's something....strange....going on there. Why is the frame geo that's wacky that you need a stem like that? Or is that a downhill frame and they want your bar high so you don't endo?
So I want a better fork on my hardtail, 'cause the fork is a 15 year old walmart special. Used disc forks are cheaper than forks with canti bosses, which makes me consider adding discs. For laughs I test fit the rear wheel off my CaadX (to eyeball a bracket to mount the rear caliper) and the tire actually clears the frame. Hmmm.

It's a cheap MTB frame for people who cannot touch their toes. I don't like always feeling like I'm pushing on the bars and since I can't get a lower headset bearing cover, this is the route I had to go, cost me a few beers.

Gravel tires
After a few years on WTB Nano 40C TCS (tubeless), I have switched over to Maxxis 40C Rambler EXO/TR. Impetus for the switch was not getting the front grip on my cross bike that I wanted. Front grip is a huge deal in cross because you are barreling into tight turns on mixed surfaces about 20x per lap for 45-60 minutes. Even a little more front grip translates directly into race results. My 33c (UCI legal) Challenge Grifo tubulars have a bit better front grip but beat the crap out of me on gopher hole riddled hardpack Socal courses.
Mounted the Ramblers and raced on them last weekend. Faster rolling, better grip when rolled over onto the edge of the tread, on grass at least. Saved about 3/4 lb rotating weight! 375g vs 530g for the WTB's
Biggest improvement was sealing. The WTB's are notorious for leaking through the sidewalls for several rides until they are thoroughly coated with sealant. PITA as you can't commit to any long rides on them for the first week or two because they'll probably be near flat by the end of the ride.
Mounted up the Ramblers at 9pm, raced on them the next day and they had not lost any air. Disclaimer: I switched from Stan's to Orange Seal which seems to work better. Anyway, raced again the next day and actually bled the tires down further, still no air loss from original installation.
Paid full pop for these through Jenson USA, no connection to Maxxis Motorsports.
Orange Seal is also my new go to sealant.

I agree, WTB sucks, their wheels are awful about sealing, Maxxis seals much better, Orange Seal is the bomb and does not dry-out like Stan's. It's funny how people are so afraid of the tire rolling and making huge grip, doubling the contact patch.

What pressure on the Ramblers? I tried them a while back and was a little put off by how loose they were on my wheels (i9 UL CX). I was worried about burping them under 35psi or so. They are wacky light for a 40c, though.

I did a ~70mile grinder today and have them cranked up mid-to-upper 30s because I was going to be doing a lot of Rock Gardens and stuff like that. For the cross race I ran like 25 or so, they were very soft. They are mounted on the Reynolds ATR's and fit very snugly. They did not fit very tight on the OEM aluminum rims that came on my van dessel. I could get them to see you but thought they would be vulnerable to burping on those. So far I'm in love. They are more subtle and have more grip than the WTBs and don't leak through the side walls like the Nanos did.
