Cane Creek is pretty awful
Push is dialed.
Dvo is laughable
Fox/RS are good

Push has the Eleven six on lock.

 

What don't you like about Cane Creek? I admittedly have no experience with DVO or Push, but I've liked the Cane Creek stuff I've used.

My SB5c needs a new shock. Always been underwhelmed with any single can rear shock. I've been considering the X2 but I'm kind of tempted to try a CCDB inline coil or Push Eleven Six. Tough to justify at the moment with the money I'm putting into my car.

 

The CCDBCSOMGBBQ has an incredibly bad failure rate.

The X2 is rad. The Eleven six is on another level.

Call me if you're after something for your bike.

Running them with 25c tires. I asked Boyd if he recommended using a 23 or 25c on them since I have both and he said 23c will be more aero in a straight line, slightly better with crosswinds, and a small weight advantage. He said the 25c will be more comfortable, handle better, and have less rolling resistance.

Does pretty much everyone here run 25c, or is the 23 still worth trying

 

nice Matt, seems like a great bike, very good equipped. I like the belt drive...my boys love touching bike chains. It freaks mom out. The aluminum frame is cool too; Jake's steel china 12" bike is as heavy as my road bike. While it's fun watching him spin 150rpm on the 12" bike, a 16" is in our future as well.

Let us know how difficult the brakes are to pull.

I'm skipping 12" pedal bike. Campbell is pushing 43 inches tall with an 18" crotch height. If I raise the seat any more on his balance bike, it'll come out. Hopefully he's on board with big boy bike. If not, he can just grow more.

I spent a lot of time trying to find alternatives to a $250 bike for a 4 year old. They're all 25 lbs and have just a coaster brake. Let's hope this pays off and he can bomb around the 'hood like a boss.

Went to the doctor yesterday, elbow only has damaged bursa (little collagen pad is ruptured from impact) so no surgery, calcium growth in the clavicle is low so I'm in the sling for another three weeks, pushing me at least another two weeks back into a return to cycling in early to mid November. I think it's time to come to terms and write-off any CX racing this year, focus on base miles for next year and maybe work hard to race well in the Tulsa Tough cat-4 races. I'm really heart broken over missing CX, but I don't think I can handle the pain of riding a CX course in the first month or two after the break, road should be fine.

I started on the trainer last night, my home for the next two months.

TurboTim and I just discussed tire pressure. I'm 179lb and running 18mm ID road wheels, 21.5mm ID CX wheels with these pressures:
Road wheels:
70/80 on training wheels
60/70 in a crit
CX bike:
40/55 on the 32mm Spesh Roubaix
25/28 on the Hutch Toros

And I do not like how my bike handles at less than 100psi on my 25mm turbo pros (18mm inner width clincher). 110psi is where I typically put both front and rear, and the bike is telepathic. 153lbs. I guess it can't hurt to try them at 70 ?!? and compare some local strava segments. If it's faster, I'll find a way to get used to the bike's handling.

EDIT: same for the 23c turbo elites that came with the bike/narrower rim. They got squishy below 100, buzzy above 120.
